Has anyone proposed denying women the right to reproduce?

Does twirling shiny keys while saying "reproductive rights" really work?

ervin_parker (below) Yes. That is known as the right not be sexually assaulted and forced into becoming pregnant. Of course women have that right.

By the way, it's actually a phrase, "reproductive rights". A woman under the Federal Law to determine whether or not they will take any pregnancy to term. Other parameters include the equal access to birth control devices and other means to prevent pregnancy, the right to not be sterilized and other broad aspects regarding the issue. They also have the right to terminate such "fetus" (actually a baby), under the Supreme Court Ruling, Roe Vs. Wade, 1972.

Pro-choice advocates will tell you that they believe that the women should have the right to decide on their own whether they may take a pregnancy to term or to abort such pregnancy. These advocates aren't necessarily against abortion, they just don't believe that the government should decide this for us.

The pro-lifers are against abortion, any abortion period. They believe that life begins at conception and to take that life is a mortal sin against God. It is a life. Those that argue the point that it isn't a life until it is born are having the cake and eat it too.

Case in point, a expectant mother is driving and is hit by a drunk driver. The woman losses the baby from the accident. The drunk driver may be charged with criminal homicide or manslaughter for the death of the unborn baby. Doesn't make any sense.

However, that same woman instead of getting into an accident could make a stop at a clinic and terminate her pregnancy, no charges will ever be filed.

Regardless of what side your on, always get more information about the issue and keep current with what is going on in our nation regarding this issue.

I am against abortion.

I don't understand "false term". I am not familiar with the term "reproductive rights", but I don't see that anyone should be denied the right to reproduce or not (although there are some libs out there that make a good case for the denial of the right to reproduce).

From Wikipedia: "The term is largely perceived as being synonymous with the “pro-choice” position, which states that abortion should be a legal option for any pregnant woman. But reproductive rights are understood as encompassing more than just abortion. Members of the reproductive rights movement also believe that reproductive rights are human rights, and as such men and women should be granted affordable access to contraception, as well as education about contraception and sexually transmitted infections, and freedom from coerced sterilization and contraception."
I'm against abortion in cases in which the fetus is viable. I'm for reproductive rights.

"Reproductive Rights" is no more a "False term" than "ProLife."

The pro-abortion rights group believes human life does not begin until birth, or at least until the life is viable outside the womb.

The anti-abortion groups often belief life begins at conception. These terms depict that different philosophy.

While I don't agree with the anti-abortion group on everything, at least they are focusing on the right issue.
At what point does human life begin?
Before that point, it is a woman's right to choose what she does with her body.
After that point, she has another body living inside hers & the rights of both must be considered.
Not that this makes the issue easy. But that is where we should begin.

Semantics.

It means giving women the right to choose not to reproduce after they become pregnant, usually referring to abortions. It's not a particularly misleading term.

But this is a great point you're making. I was hoping to see more men sharing their expertise on issues that they really understand, like pregnancy and having babies...

reproductive rights is not a false term when refering to abortion. the right for a woman to choose when she wants a family, or if she doesnt at all is one of the core elements of women's rights. People like you are also in favor of removing women from the workplace, military, or anywhere else that she may have a position of power. in other words, you hate women

I don't care for slogans or popular terms either to make an argument.

But I still think that a woman wanting an abortion is not my business... its her choice, not mine and I'd prefer that no one legislates from the pulpit.

***to your additional comments: to me it smacks of pulpit politics
