Drive the old Route 66 which I think is now Hwy 40 from Chicago to Flagstaff and turn left to Phoenix. It is about 2065.8 miles and should take about 29 to 32 hours driving time.

2065 miles will take three days driving 10 hours a day or 30 hours total driving time.

follow I-71 to Columbus, OH
follow I-70 from columbus, OH to St Louis, MO
from St Louis, MO follow I-44 to Oklahoma City, OK (note I-44 in Oklahoma is a toll rd)
in Oklahoma City, OK take I-40 to Flagstaff, AZ
From Flagstaff take I-17 to Phoenix, AZ
