It is water. Dihydrogen means two hydrogens. Monoxide means one oxygen. The result? H2O.

Yes, it is a highly hazardous substance! Thousands of people each year die from accidentally inhaling it; in gaseous form it can cause burns and blistering; in solid form, prolonged exposure will cause severe tissue damage.
And yet the government does nothing to eliminate it! In fact, one whole branch of the Department of Defense spends most of its time and effort developing methods to utilize this horrible stuff! High concentrations of dihydrogen monoxide can be found in every lake, river, stream, and wetland in the USA; yet the EPA does nothing about it!
YOU can help eliminate this deadly threat! Write to your senators and congressmen today, and demand that dihydrogen monoxide be eradicated from our soil! Thank you.

Hereabouts, we call it "Hydrogen hydroxide" to emphasize its ability to dissociate into ions. It freezes at 0 degrees Celsius and boils at 100 degrees Celsius (at 1 atmosphere pressure); at room temperature, it's a colorless liquid. It is exceptionally good at dissolving ionic compounds and polar compounds.
