Okay to be honest you have to ask for what area. Alienware is Dell, Dell bought them out over a year ago. Dell is nice, HP (also Compaq), Sony, Gateway, Sager, Prostar, Clevo , Lenvo , Panasonic , ABS , Toshiba, and Apple. Now Sager, Prostar, Clevo, and ABS are all pretty much the same, just they use some of the desktop like powers and graphics which also sometimes makes them more expensive.

It depends of what kind of laptop you want, home use ,entertamenit, gaming, but the top brands a probably Toshiba, Dell, HP, & Gateway, but then you have specialty like for gaming - alienware
