With a sponge warm water and a small amount of your own hair shampoo, this works very well, Rinse with cold water. Once you have removed the stain´s, lay a towel with a heavy object on top. This will help to soak up any remaining water from the underside of your carpet. Leave over night like this , then allow to dry with natural air. You might find , that steam cleaning the carpet at a later date is necessary, as sooner or later the water mark´s always reach the top

The best way is Oxi Clean. You can get a good sized tub for cheap and you don't need to use much of it at all per use. It works great for all kinds of stains. I used to laugh at the commercials, but then I got some and it really does work. Try it out.

Murphy's Oil Soap and water. Wipe the spot with a clean cloth wet with soapy water. When the spot is clean, wipe it near dry with a clean, dry cloth.
