It is perfectly fine to leave fish for 4 days without food. Healthy fish can even go a week with very little effect. Living in a watery environment has its advantages - fish don't have to wait for you to give them a drink. As for food, they are quite capable of going for several days without a meal.
In fact, healthy adult fish can go for a week or two without feeding. That doesn't mean you should routinely skip feedings, however they can safely be left without food over a long holiday weekend. Do keep in mind that food is not the only concern when going away.
The water temperature should remain fairly constant, and the light should be turned off at night and on in the morning. Lighting is easy to handle by purchasing a timer. No need to get a fancy one, just something that will turn the lights on and off once each day. I'd put the light on a timer and leave it that way all the time. That way the day/night cycle is standard, and you have one less thing to do each day.

Fish should be given 1 - 2 days a week without food, so they eat any rubbish left in the gravel, and to give their digestive systems a rest.
If it's going to be every other day without for a week, get 3 day holiday blocks (they say how many fish they feed for how long), and you can drop one in before you leave, they could nhip over just once to check the tank, give them some regular fish food, and drop the 2nd block in.

I accept as true with Jurassic Ice with regards to the computerized (mechanical) feeder. you will get a typical form, with none bells and whistles for greater or less $15. You fill it, set the timer, and permit it pass. that's going to dispense nutrition each and every 12 or 24 hours, finding on the form. an afternoon or 2 without nutrition is often ok (some fish income from fasting at some point each and every week), yet i might sense somewhat undesirable and trouble approximately leaving them that lengthy without something to eat. Feeder blocks are terrible! i might sense worse approximately putting a style of in there than leaving them without nutrition. in case you haven't any longer have been given somebody sturdy you may have confidence to safeguard your fish on your absence, get an computerized feeder. attempt it for a pair of days, if possible, to be sure it works properly and is adjusted suitable. some human beings use those on a each and on a daily basis foundation to be sure their fish are fed the comparable quantity on the comparable time on a daily basis! incredibly accessible. Tetras are not the main interactive fish around (I actually have a college of purple & Blue Columbians. much less interactive than my Platies). If their nutrition seems interior the tank each and on a daily basis, they might somewhat be conscious you're lengthy gone, lol. for my section, it extremely is an much less costly answer to a issue that plagues maximum aquarium vendors while we'd desire to pass away. Get it as quickly as, and it will continually be there once you like it! desire this helps! Have a secure trip!

I actually have left my fish without food for like a month so they are pretty hardy except its not very healthy and if you have aggressive fish it may lead to and eating of other fish if you don't feed them for a really long time. So anyway a day without feeding your fish will definitely not not make them sick or kill them. Hope this info helps!

Fish do not need to be fed every day and they only need to be fed enough food for them to eat in 5 minutes.

Of course, they don't have to eat every day. They can go for about a week without food.

It won't hurt them a bit. If you are leaving for a while, they have things you can put into the tank that feeds them over a period of time.

Certainly, that's not a problem at all. Every other day will be fine for your fish until you get back.
