Look in the mirror. I think you'll see what I mean. You have taken good care of yourself for all of your life, and it is obvious to anyone who really sees you.

When others realize that you already are what they want to become, they'll be challenged to be better than they were before they knew you. You are an inspiration to others by being the man you are. Reflect on the number of people whose lives you've changed for the better. That is a huge success in itself.

Now let me examine your second comment. I'm focusing on the word nap. Yes, I think life as we presently know it will come to an end. But I also believe that isn't the final chapter of our existence. I think your souls go on forever in some form. They return in ways we can not imagine, but they do go on.

Focus on having fun in this life. Pass through it with a smile on your face. These things will get you a long way toward being successful. The greatest measure of success is not the amount of money you make, but in the fact that you know you made it honestly and fairly. And you earned the respect of many others along the way.

If this life is the only one we're going to have, then this life does not amount to much of anything. If there is no benevolent God, then we might as well eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. And that will be it. And if we are going to become dust for ever and ever--why should we worry about working hard or being successful or doing anything "meaningful," since there is no meaning? But I believe that my Redeemer liveth. There is a God who has created all things (Revelation 4:11). He reveals himself in creation or in our lives, if we let him guide our steps. If there is no eternal meaning, then there is no meaning at all.

Do you consider yourself as influential as the minds of George Washington, Adolf Hitler, Marx, or any other person whoms life actually amounted to something (good or bad)? If not, your life probably won't mean very much 50 years down the road.

Live your life doing what makes you happy, as nothing else really matters unless your going to change something for better or for worse.

Don't focus on being successful. Focus on feeling love. Love lasts forever. When your soul breaks free of this skinsuit it remembers love. That is what amounts to something. Fill your heart with love -- for yourself, for others, for nature, for all that life has to offer. Material things won't mean anything, ashes to ashes, dust to dust as you said. It is the intangibles that have real value. They never die.

You shouldn't be focused on being succesful, you should have your eyes locked on the pricelessness of happieness. If you don't see rewards in your life from what you have done, maybe your looking for the wrong rewards. Not everything is about money and glory. Walking in the footsteps of famous people and celebs shouldn't be the main thing on our minds. We should always shoot for the best we are, but sometimes we arn't meant to be like Brad Pitt and Jessica Alba, even though they are on TV and admired for thier jobs, they are people too, and people all in all want to find happiness, and to be pround in thier lifes past.
If your mind is set on the fact that we are all going to die, congratulations, you have finally accepted one of the horrible facts of life. But for every dark shadow that is thrown at us, there are always specks of light breaking through, showing us that with hope and patience, you can do anything you want and accomplish everything that you set yourself to. Comitment is one of the major things that can give us REWARDS at the end of the day, wheather it be in a relationship, career of life itself. You have to find something that you enjoy, if you go through life waiting for death, what are you going to do once it comes for you>?
Life is the greatest gift of all, and if you put it in th edark corner of your closet covered with emotionless layers and emptyness, why should you be given it when there are thousands of people who would give anything to have your life, because thiers is worse.

Because if there's no afterlife and this is all you get, you better make the most of it.

Maybe it doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

But then, your life isn't The Grand Scheme.

It's one life. YOUR life. It may be all you get, and even though it may not have much of an impact in general, it has a huge impact on your personal experience.

Which might be all you get.

This kind of grim outlook is bound to make you feel pretty awful--so try to chill out a bit.
If we are lucky, we manage to find something to do with ourselves that seems "meaningful"--or seems interesting--or at least we find some harmless things that give ourselves or other people a bit of pleasure. That can be enough to make it all seem worthwhile.
