Its not something to celebrate, we need to hone those who fought and fight and help to set our country right.

I disagree with making it a day of rememberance. To continue harping on that event every year, and having all business and commerce stop to commemorate that day when so many innocents died would actually just be strengthening the terrorists resolve, and invite more attacks. We need to rebuild the towers to show them they did not win, they didnt break our stride. We need to show them that we as a nation got back on our feet, business as usual, and that nothing they throw at us can bring us to standstill. Despite senseless loss of life and tragedy, America will always go on and keep strong.

No it doesn't. Perhaps it is the association of the term "holiday" with the date that you misunderstand. It would be Patriot's Day - and it would celebrate the lives of those who gave their lives - not their deaths. It would be a day of reflection not unlike Memorial Day. And it would celebrate how a city and a nation came together in a time of crisis in a very special and wonderful way. I am a proud NYer and proud of my city and my country and how we reacted to the tragedy. You should be too. The film loose change is a total crock and a disgrace to those who lost their lives. There is not a shred of truth in it. Pax - C

Yes, it would be like memorial day, a good idea if you ask me.
And we need a Viet Nam veterans day. Those boys did not need to go fight a war nobody believed in. We got our butts whipped and finally pulled out of the "conflict" (they didn't even call it a war until now).

Who needs a reminder? We have never had a holiday for December 7th, 1941. Does anyone remember what happened on that day?

Who has the bright idea to do that ? It shouldnt be a holiday, it shoud be a day of mourning, and it should be a day when enough bombs are dropped in Afghanistan this year to make em think mohammad is coming back. Had to be nancy pelosi. That sounds like her, or maybe even edward kennedy

You're totally right. I'm not American and I didn't know there were talks about making 9/11 a holiday, but yeah, it does disgust me! Only a day that made the difference in the history of a country but in a positive way, as the end of bad times, for example (Independence day kind of thing) should become a holiday...

Holidays don't need to be all presents and fireworks and candy.

To set it aside as a solemn reminder as to the fragility of freedom would be appropriate to me.

I don't know where you got the idea that 9/11 is a celebratory holiday (I worked that day, I know most people did), but I think what we do for it now (set aside time as a period of remembrance) is appropriate.

it would not be a celebration. it would be an observance.. however my concern would be that we have lives lost on various dates. and although it was a tragedy of major porportion.. the death of one human being is just as important. i think the word disgust... is actually pretty strong..by the way. and for those who fight and die in battle are honored on veterans day..and others

well it would be a holiday for remembrance not celebration, just like memorial day. you have to understand that not all holidays are celebrations. it can be in observance just like for MLK or other people that have died. So, it would be ok for a holiday on SEPT 11
