Unfortunately I do not think there is any way that it can be prevented.
When a president is so well controlled by others with an agenda, and the president is without the ability to differentiate between right and wrong. Things like this will happen. gwb was on a mission to establish his legacy, and he has done just that, history books will show him to be the worst president in recent history. The entire 9/11 issue came about because of our placing troops on Saudi Soil, and that you can thank DADDY for.
Had junior paid attention to his DADDY'S advisers, we probably would not be in the mess we are in at the present time.
All the warnings that were given to DADDY, concerning what would happen if we went into Baghdad have in fact come true.
junior wanted this war, Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11

I'm still waiting to hear one confirmed lie that President Bush told.
Saddam DID have WMDs, and he used them often....just ask the Kurds or the Iranians. He had SCUDS, he used them often. Even the Dem "sweethearts" like Hillary, Bill, and Gore all said publicly that Saddam had ties with Al Quida, and this was long before President Bush was in the White House.

Bush followed the old rule that if you repeat a lie over and over that it will become the truth. He used our sadness and anger over 9/11 to create a climate where people would go along with his plan to take Saddam down by any means necessary.
We have to be smarter, but more importantly SMART PEOPLE NEED TO BE MORE ACTIVE.
Stupid people were galvanized to vote for Bush, and that's why he won. It is time for the people who have a clue to care about things again. Be involved. Question stupidity instead of tiredly accepting it. It's more work but our future depends on it.

Considering that the invasion of Iraq was debated on Universal Television for oh, I don’t know, FOREVER, it didn’t surprise me in the least that WMD were never found. It was almost obvious, because gee, I don’t know, we TOLD them we were coming to disarm them?! Or wouldn’t you have gotten rid of the evidence when you knew someone was coming to get it? WMD exist and the equipment and the technology and the know-how exist. All you need is the main ingredient – a willing person to mix it all up and use it. Thankfully, the main ingredient for this particular recipe no longer exists. He was tried, found guilty and hanged.
I'm sorry . . . just what lies and deception were you referring to again?

Sir, your additional details bring to the fore the reasons why your question will NEVER be accomplished. For every sane, informed, educated and discerning person like yourself in the USA, there are 100,000 morons, force-fed, ignorant and frankly buffoon like sycophants around, who believe in what they are told and find it too cumbersome to actually test anything that doesn't fit into their indoctrinated lives......
Therein lies the problem and it won't be long before another Bush comes along and convinces them that Canada is actually an enemy ready to use WMD's on them.

By electing RON PAUL as president.
He was the only one in the House or Senate who said the war was unwarranted and that we had no justification for invading.
He is the only one who now does not have to admit Bush pulled the wool over his eyes.
He is the only one who does not have to say he voted to get us into a war and now he wants us out of the war.
Had we listened to him, we would not have started the war in the first place.
HE is the man to keep us out of wars for the next EIGHT years. Not FLIP FLOP HILLARY or OBAMA.

That is a great question and I've asked myself that often because I fear that this great nation is at risk just because of the seemingly inability of Congress to stop the craziness of this Republican Administration.
I thought we had enough old timers in the United States Congress and the United States Senate that had enough political savvy and interest in the sovereignty of this nation to stop this idiotic war in Iraq and concentrate on the real security of our borders and re-equipping of our military and revamping of our national defenses and strategic defenses. The Democrats just don't have the votes and the Republicans don't have the guts to take on their own Republican President because it would reveal the fact that they were wrong to support this colossal failure from the beginning.
Thanks

I don't think we, as a nation, can ever prevent repeats of this sort of deception.
Especially because in this case, the lies and deception began with Saddam himself.
We can't control the world and force their leaders to act forthrightly.
But -
it was a nice idea, lib.

What lies and deceptions. I watched the twin towers fall, that wasn't a lie, nor was it a deception. I saw daily Saddam Hussein thumb his nose at us, stop UN inspectors, shoot at our airplanes in the no fly zone, that wasn't a lie or deception.
