One day, he went jogging in his neighborhood outside of Portland, Maine, when a knucklehead driver ran him over.

He doesn't.

In fact, he hates Massachussetts.

He makes a number of disparaging remarks about Massachussetts.

As far as "hating" Maine...that's where he lives. Where he grew up. He's most familiar with it (though some books, like The Shining, famously AREN'T in Maine.)

He writes horror novels in a place that happens to be familiar to him.

But in general, I think he likes Maine OK...it's just that a lot of bad things happen there.

Which isn't the state's fault.

Why do you get that he hates Maine so much? Please tell me, I'm interested in hearing why.. I don't think he hates Maine because he lives there with his wife, lol.

He always makes his characters live in Maine, and most of them are authors like him... now thats what bugs me about the great author: can't he switch things up every once in awhile?

Since he has lived there for many many years, he can't hate it very much.
