Ok, I'm going to break with the pack here, and admit that I do not always appreciate other people's opinions, and here are some reasons why:
1) Sometimes, people are simply mistaken. They may be well-intentioned, but they just are not experts in the subject matter. They may be nice people.... but nonetheless have no basis for comment.
2) The life experiences of others, while highly meaningful to them, may or may not be reflective of lessons about reality in general. It is somewhat silly and dangerous to accept these blindly, without first employing some critical thinking skills.
3) People's opinions can be self-serving. (I do not exclude myself from this statement, by the way! ;-) Their beliefs may not benefit you, and if there many people share the same beliefs, you may find your thought patterns matching up with theirs (a.k.a. groupthink), even when it is detrimental to all concerned. This can be an impediment to creative thinking, and must be guarded against carefully.

Yes. Sometimes it is the best way to learn, and possibly to gain a new perspective on things. This is ruling out arguing though. I don't like to argue! Sharing opinions is fun when it's done in a discussion type manner with an open mind, and with respect toward each other's different opinions.

I respect others' opinions and even try to be open to the possibility that my answer may not always be the best or right answer. At the same time I would like it if people would not try to oppose my opinion unless they have concrete back-up.

Sure. There have been numerous times in my life when someone else's opinion forced me to take a second look at my own. Many other times, my own opinion was reinforced by hearing someone else's take. Either instance is healthy and defining.
It's not about finding teachers. It's about choosing to learn.

Yes, I always ask the opinion of others for a different view point. However in the final analysis, I make my own decision. I do appreciate their input, whatever it is~~~Jill

Yes I do appreciate other people's opinions. Just so as long as they don't say it in an offensive or rude way! I can't stand ignorance!

Sure, it's always best to see all sides of an argument before finalizing your own opinion...
Doesn't always make me happy but, yes, I appreciate hearing their opinion....
