Please say nothing that may ruin the book. I haven't read it yet. But, what was your opinion on the overall book?

I have "The Complete and Uncut Edition" that is why it is 1200 pages. Or about that.

I have read a lot of Stephen King books, especially lately. As of now my favorite is Misery or the Dark Half. Just thought I would pop this in so people understand that I am not new to King's works.

Yes - it's much creepier than the mini-series, which hardly did it justice.
It didn't seem like 1200 pages as I read it, because I couldn't put it down and finished it quickly!

I'm reading it right now. It's on the coffee table in the living room. I'm on page 980 or something. So far it has been really really good. The plot is very slow moving but there is so much in the story. King gives probably the most detail than any other author I've read. And he does it in a way that's relevant, and makes a point. Sometimes you might think that what you're reading has nothing to do with the plot, and then it all comes together later. That's what I love about Stephen King books. So I say yes, it is worth it.

In general, I'm not a huge Stephen King fan, but I actually really enjoyed The Stand. If you like his writing usually, you'll enjoy the book. Even if you just like that genre, I think it's a good book, worth reading. Just don't bother with the movie, THAT is a waste of time. I was pretty dissapointed since I like the book a lot.

I am a Stephen King fan, but I also read a lot of different books of various genres. And I have to say, he is one of the best in his genre. His stories are not just horror/sci-fi based, I think it also touches on why human beings are powerful than than we really know, and just because we are humans, we are indeed, special in our own ways (that's how I interpreted some of S.King's stories) . Read "The Stand," it's absolutely one of the best Stephen King novels, it's thrilling, it's chilling and awesome.

Absolutely it's worth reading! I know that 1200+ pages may seem a bit daunting but trust me, once you start reading "The Stand" you'll be hooked; it's fascinating and scary and really, just one of King's very best. Have fun reading it! :-)

That is the version I read and though it took me longer than usual to read it, I really loved it and so did my ex, he read it after me. If you like Stephen King it's definitely worth it to read.
