I note that, increasingly, PCers and such-like are using the abuse button to silence people with whom they disagree.
One half-wit wrote "You're a racist.Enough said"
THIS exemplifies the point that I am continually making: The shouting of a single WORD will silence ALL dissent!
No need for reason.
No need for debate.
No need for discussion.
Just shout the WORD!

Another cretin wrote "reported+the date"
I can just imagine them turning to their "mate" and saying "That told him: the Fascist!"
And their mate saying "Oh,I love you when you're STERN! "
Of course, I think Yahoo! are equally at fault for being so Sh1t-scared of this self-appointed Elite.

There is absolutely an underlining fear of the 'word' being thrown in one's face, which is quite effective at quelling speech for many less inclined to engage in the mud-pits of our PC friends.

The fifth column is on the march my friend, and we are in the path, so keep your wits and stand ready.

years ago people talked politics in some small restaurant where they congregated after a long hard day at the factory or mill. Today with computers there is overwhelming discussion, arguing, bickering, competition, bullying and it's worldwide that it's not even worth getting into forums, discussion groups, chatrooms or even reading the blogs. And anything regarding politics takes preparation time and that allows for more "opinions", and everyone has an opinion.

In years past the opinions were handed to the director, president or whomever was at the top of the list who then made the determination (on whatever), but these days everyone thinks that "they" are a president, prime minister or someone important that they can make the decision from the few facts that they have. And although I believe in free speech, I located the viruses and trojans (and they are the abusers) and I found it in my generous heart to pull the plug on my pc.

I think you're taking this excerpted piece out of context. He's discussing the origins of the concept of land ownership. In more primitive societies, without fixed or formal government (such as the Indian nations at that time), there was private ownership, to some extent of movable items (clothing, tools, weapons, horses, etc), but none to property. Jefferson fully believed in private property rights and land ownership rights, as did all the founding fathers. In other writings, he says that only after a formal government is established can private land ownership and the rights of ownership occur. The claim that it is not a natural right refers to the fact that it is not a concept found in less advanced societies that do not have formalized governments and laws. Socialist indeed!

I feel your pain but the reality is that the majority of people on ANSWERS fall into the PROGRESSIVE camp. I once answered a question with a fact-based answer and even provided the source and was slammed with 10 negative votes and a ABUSE complaint. The majority of users here are young and therefore statistically more likely to lean toward Socialist/Communist viewss

Keep your head up and continue to be a lone voice in the wilderness for INDENPENDENT THINKING!!!!

No my Friend Socialists are capable of stringing words together in fact they can express themselves in quite long sentences. I would use this opportunity to point out that man is a social animal and he is the dominant species on the planet as a direct result. Conservatives on the other hand prefer things as they are as they are doing very nicely which is why they are stagnating and will eventually die out like the rest of the dinosaurs. Do not confuse socialism with liberal political correctness as we are quite capable of telling someone they are greedy and selfish.

Aren't you right. Yahoo gives the weakest some immense power. Power that is just illusion, because nobody takes it really serious. It is a game, sometimes serious people answer serious questions, but many times some idiot gets a say when he is normally suppressed and a born underdog.

I've noticed a growing group of people in the USA. who seem to think that freedom of speech means freedom from descent. They seek to silence all opinions but their own. It's a bad thing because it allows people who are stupid but aggressive to appear to win arguments. It's a shame it's spread to this forum.

Oh, you are funny. Don't worry, old fruit, I'm quite capable of stringing more than two words together; if I think someone's a bigoted racist pr!ck I'll be quite capable of telling them why I've come to that conclusion.

And I've been reported for abuse for pointing out I didn't agree with someone's bigoted point of view (anyone remember that little tw@t Punkarama?) so don't get up on your high horse about that one. Your saddle's a bit loose.

I know how you feel my friend but our time will come. The British people will get fed up of being pushed around by terrorists and criminals. We will call a spade a spade, we will not cuddle neds, we will defend our homes from burglars, , we will stand up for our right to fairness. I do not advocate the beating or racial abuse of ethnic minorities but if they are here they live by our ways and our beliefs. Criminals get punished properly, unruly school children get the strap, irresponsible parents get jailed, children get educated in British, Christian history and beliefs, People get the right to buy handguns and enjoy the sports of shooting responsibly while those that abuse this right are properly punished and not just the whole right ban that and the problem will go away no criminals just get access to it while normal people lose their sport.
