I have a Linksys Wireless-G router. Do routers keep you from getting viruses or something? what is the deal with that?

No, it doesn't. You still have to use a virus protector and you should have a spyware protector. I use Cyber Defender, which is a virus protector, spyware protector, SPAM alert and SCAM alert in one. You can get it from www.cyberdefender.com and it's free.

Not in the least, for virus proitection install anti virus software like AVAST, free from www.avast.com

A router DOES make your PC harder to access from the outside world without you wanting it to be, but it is only 1 part of the stage, also use a good firewall program, I use "Sunbelt personal" and find it good.

Also keep tools hande for cleaning out spyware and adware,

I'd reccomend these 2, run each in turn
ADAWARE fro www.lavasoftusa.com (Free personal version)
also SPYBOT S&D from www.spybot.org (Again free for home use)

Also worth having in toolbox is CCLEANER from www.ccleaner.com again a free download, and a good general windows tidyup utility.

You still can get viruses. Make sure to have antivirus installed on each computer.

You need antiviral software or risk catching something.Avast is free, but not very efficient. If you want a good one,U need to pay for it.U only get what u pay for,and nothing is really free in this world.
