and the problem is my drill only has a 1/2 inch chuck, i have a brand new sealed hss 3/4 inch bit with a shank of the same diameter. i was hoping to start off with a few pilot holes first 3mm 5.5 7mm then then 10mm then go in with the 3/4. any ideas on how to help? my missus is waiting drill in hand her bestest apron on and cant wait to get started on me first.

Trepanning is also a term for drilling or removing material. Why not buy a set of hole saws or get the shank of the 3/4 bit ground down to fit the existing chuck. If you are starting small and increasing shouldn`t be a problem.

As long as you are first the party should go smoothly. Your guests will get the idea after they see the work on you. You can hand out baseball caps to keep out the rain so all of your guests can leave happy.

Spell it right and some people might get the joke.............. it's trepanning............... And the aboriginal people thought that this would release headaches and demons in the head. What are you hoping for?
