I have a 37/50 worth 50 percent of my course. My exam is worth the other 50%. What percentage of answers do I need to get right to pass the course? (A passing grade is 50%). And can you please tell me how you got that answer?

To make this easy for you...you need a 13/50 on the next test. As everyone is saying, that is 26% of the answers, but all you need is 13 points. Hope that is easier than the long answers given by everyone else.

Let's say 37/50 is in the homework category.

So you have a 37/50 weighed in at 50%.
You also have an x/y weighed in at 50%.
....(y being the total possible points on the exam, and
....(x being your score out of the total points on the exam.

So 0.50(37/50) + 0.50(x/y) = Final Grade

So let's say on your exam you scored 100/100.
Then,
0.50(37/50) + 0.50(100/100) = Final Grade
which becomes
0.50(74/100) + 0.50(100/100) = 37/100 + 50/100 = 87/100
(If you get all your answers correct you will receive an
87/100 in the course).

Now, if your target score is just to pass, you set the equation to 50%.

.50(37/50) + 0.50(x/y) = Target Score
0.50(37/50) +0.50(x/y) = 50/100
(Let's assume y = 100, which mean that our test is out of 100 points)

0.50(37/50) + 0.50(x/100) = 50/100
or
0.50(74/100) + 0.50(x/100) = 50/100
which simplifies to
37/100 + 0.50x/100 = 50/100
which simplifies to
37 + 0.50x = 50
which simplifies to
0.50x = 13
x = 26%

If you want to pass the course, you need to get 26% of your answers correct on the test.

If you don't attempt the test, you will receive a 37% in the class.

So your situation:
Get a 0% on exam, you receive an 37% in the course.
Get a 26% on exam, you receive an 50% in the course.
Get a 100% on exam, you receive an 87% in the course.

....
....
I was a bit bored so sorry for the lengthy response.
There are way simpler ways to do this problem, but...
This formula would be useful if you want to build a program
of some sort.
Anyways, have fun.

So if you have 37/50, you just divide the numerator by the denominator to see what your current grade is: 74%. Since the current grade's points and the exam's points are worth the same (50%) then you need to find the average between the two grades to get an overall grade. Let's say x is the exam score so what you would have to do is:
(74+x)/2=50
74 is the grade you have, add it to the exam score, and then divide it by 2 to get the average you want, which is 50. Now you just need to solve for x. Multiply both sides by 2, then subtract 74.
(74+x)/2=50
74+x=100
x=26
26 is the percentage of questions you need to get right on the test.

37/50 gives you a 74% currently. If you need a final of 50%, then
final grade of 50% = the average of you two possible grades.
50% = (74% + X)/2 74% + X = 100% and
X= 26%. n Thus you need to answer 26% on the final.

Your current score is 37/50 = 74%
So (74 +X)/2 = 50
74 + X =100
X = 26%

26.

You see, you got 37 of 50 points, if 50 points is 50% every point is 1%, so you have 37%

If you alredy have 37% and want at least 50 on the grade, you need 13%.

As the exam is 50%, you need 26% of the exam to get a 13% of the grand total.

So as I said, you need 26 points. :P

Good luck. :)

The 37/50 is worth 50% of your grade; the test ratio is the other half, so:

Let f=first half of grade (your current 37/50)
t = second half of grade (exam)
d = desired (passing) grade (50%)

So:
50%·f + 50%·t = 50%

Convert percentages to decimals:
0.50·(37/50) + 0.50·t = 0.5

.37 + 0.5t = 0.5
0.5t = 0.50 - 0.37
0.5t = 0.13
t = 0.26 = 26%

You only need to score just over 26% on your test to keep your overall grade above 50%.

You use the exract circulum and add it with the decimal then you multiply the angle and use the alerbragic expression. you're answer is the pythagorean thyrom and then you find the degree of the vertices and divide it by 360 and you have your answer
