You know what really bothers me? The corner that we live on is notorious for accidents. It happens on a regular basis. Because of that, I am regularly exposed to the phenomena that is a small town with nothing better to do. Everytime there is an accident on this corner, rather than go about their business, it seems the whole town flocks to the scene, and sits around watching what happens, be it bodies dragged from the wreckage, or arguments between drivers, ambulances at the scene, whatever. People of all ages come (and bring their kids and families) to watch the happenings of it all as the events unfold. It's like you see a whole family, wife, kids, dog, all sitting there with their lawn chairs (dragged from three blocks away) with a bucket of chicken and a bowl of popcorn watching the action!

Is it just me, or is this ridiculous? Your thoughts...?

That is ridiculous. People need to get lives and stop being so nosy about other peoples lives. People on that corner should be used to accidents by now. I mean, if they were in an accident would they want people staring at them? NO!!

It's not just small towns. Here in California, even a minor fender bender on a freeway will cause a huge backup because everyone wants to slow down to see what happened. Even if there is nothing to see. One time I was stuck in traffic for about an hour on I-5 in the Central Valley, all because some guy tried to make a u-turn across the median and got stuck in the mud.

This is just an example of the human being wanting to know and see all. Small town, nothing to do, local corner where injuries are sustained and even death has occurred, where would you prefer to be, in front of the TV where the images are of strangers or in the front of the crowd watching a friend or associate being pulled from a mangled wreck of metal. The human being, truly, truly a specific, individual species. God Bless.

When I was young I saw a car accident right at the end of my street. I was looking at cars and I knew there was going to be an accident - a car and a motorcycle were going way too fast in different directions at the light and I knew they wouldn't be able to stop.

Nothing like watching dead bodies get pulled out of a car when your a kid :-<>

Haha, Dane Cook does a skit about this... He talks about how he runs out without shoes on, and everyone watches, people are building bleachers on the sidewalk, and everyone wants to be a part of the police report. Everyone can relate to the joke... you're not alone in your feelings on this situation.
