A world stage to either state their long list of greivances and money demands on the US like North Korea or to spew their sick venom like the Ant-Semitism of Iran. What about a toe to toe with al-qaida's leaders would he see that as also fruitful to give legitimacy to a cabal of murders like that? A group that murdered thousands of americans on one day given status of a world leader. And diplomacy is a give and take what do terrorists desire but more deaths. I don't know it this was Hillary's plan but in this give and take with the junior senator from Illinois Hillary is looking like a moderate and he like another "lite" candidate as the Breck Girl John Edwards.

Yes Reagan did it with a major superpower not every third rate terror group out there. He spoke to the Russians because they controlled more than their own foreign policy but those of all Iron Curtain countries - but you did not see him jet off to Iran, Cuba, or Nicagragua like Obama seems to want to do.

What do you want to do, go to war with Venezuela, Iran and North Korea? You guys don't get it, or you don't care, that many people in the world view the US as murders because of our actions in Iraq. It doesn't matter if what they think is true or not. It's what they believe and it will affect our relations with moderate countries in the Muslim world like Jordan, Egypt and Pakistan. The only way to know for sure if talking is fruitless is to actually do it. Not with Al Queada. No democrat ever suggested that and cons sound ridiculous when they accuse Dem's of wanting to have talks with AQ. I'm talking about Tehran and Damascus. We've done it before, Ronald Reagan did it before. Why not now? We have nothing to lose by engaging in low level talks, absolutely nothing.

He wants to unite a nation before we sadly turn ourselves into the "EVIL EMPIRE" like other nations consider us now. SEE GORBACHEV on that refrence.

While everyone may think talking to these people is a mistake, I do not. IF WE TALKED TO PEOPLE MORE BEFORE 9/11, they wouldnt still be there. think about that one

Maybe so, but what is there to lose? They may gain some legitimacy, but if it slows/halts attacks, isn't a decent action to try?
