i agree that it was IMMORAL for a LEADING American agency to do this to its own citizens, ESPECIALLY to its kiddies....

You are putting this piece of history into a modern context. It was totally wrong for the CIA to do this but it is basically ancient history for now. The Soviet Union was a perceived threat, a very real threat giving the rhetoric coming out of Moscow, and the KGB was using these same types of techniques. The CIA and the KGB were in a huge competition and so they had a interest in mirroring each other's programs.

It was totally wrong, very immoral... but these nations thought that immoral means justified the ends. This is really not unique in any nation's history.

That was during the 50's why would they use it today? It was created during the cold war. This is just one of the CIA documents that has ben declassified since the end of the cold war. It would never be used on American citizens unless under extreme circumstances.

Although it was denied for many years, the project named MK Ultra is now acknowledged and there is a lot of evidence as to some terrible things that it involved. I forget the name of the person involved, but there was one operative who was given LSD without being told; he ended up throwing himself out of a window. His son has been researching the incident and I think that if you google it, you may be able to find more details, if you're interested.

There are also many books on MK Ultra.

The really relevant question is surely: are these kinds of programmes still going on today.....?
