Our heroic figure "Harry" might die in a French film, but as the book will no doubtably be made into a world released film, our hero could not die. It would be too much of a downer....
Sad but true, if Rowling had written Harry into death, then there would have been a lot less revenue for her from box office sales for year 7 and perhaps year 6 as it has not come out yet.

As I was reading it, until I got to that part, I thought Harry was going to have to die. I most certainly did not want Harry to die, yet I would have understood if she chose to end the book that way. It would have made sense that he gave the ultimate sacrifice, his life, so that everyone else would be alright. I see where you're going with wanting Harry to die, but I'm glad she kept him alive and instead only showed his close brush with death.

Well I kinda wanted something a bit more dramatic than part of the books describing Harry going camping. But I guess it's been written like that so oh well. The ending of the 7th reminds me of the ending of Eragon though.

Voldemort, mainly. :-P
There was so much sad and scary stuff in that book, I think it would have been too dark to be a kids' book if Harry had died after all that.

I would have liked him and Voldermort to die, because it would have recognised that the age group, who had grown up with the book (by that i mean people who were at the same age as Harry), have grown up aswell.
But then again, i thought it was a cracking book.... so im not complaining.
