Hello, another American living in Europe. Europe is a big place with lots of different countries and each country is different is is own way from the language to the food they eat and the way they think. If I were you and wanted to visit Europe I would begin planning now and for Christmas and Birthdays ask for money and save it, baby sitting is also a good way to earn a few dollars. Begin researching different countries based on your preferences and when you turn 18 you should have enough for an amazing trip that will leave everyone you know green with envy.

Plan to have a Europe travel in 5 years time.
Based on the prices now you will have to budget $100 a day plus airfare. But if the Dollar is coming back up before then, that money will allow you luxeries.
I have been traveling in Europe, America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
I think Europe stands out, because there is so much history, the towns and villages are so close together, the countries are not big but differ a lot.
If you plan your trip right, a three week trip including no more than four countries will show you five different cultures, let you travel through five different language areas and five different landscape types.
Like starting in Belgium, the coast, flemish (Dutch) speaking, sandy beach, into the country with flat landscapes, nice old (Dutch style) towns.
Into the Wallon (French) speaking area, rocky, not high but steep landscapes, towns more like France. Into Luxembourg, different kind of rocks and a different language again. (A language closer to German.)
This is all no more than 5 hours by slow train, you could spend 5 days seeing it, and having a good experience.
Next you could travel through Germany, have several kinds on landscape again, and spend a few days in a few different towns and villages.
From Germany you could go to Czech republic, a country with a slavic language, which has been communist for many years but is now part of the European Union and having a lot more tourists now than ever before.
And this is just one example.
Start reading about Europe now, east, west, north and south, and see what attracts you.
Ask your parents where your family roots are.
By the time you have enough money you know where you want to go and how you want to travel.
If you can save $50 a month in 5 years you can have $ 3000, and that is enough for a real holiday.
Even if you can save less now, in a few years you will be able to save more and you can still work up enough to budget a good trip, but start saving as soon as you can, it will make the trip more real for you.

I've been to Europe many times. It's a large and varied place. You're talking about several different countries. The people, culture, languages, terrain all vary from place to place. You should know, you don't have to have TONS of money to visit Europe.
- travel off season (late winter, late summer) are great times to look for flight deals
- stay at inexpensive hostels. There are many fantastic hostels that are clean and centrally located in hot destinations. Many have kitchen areas you can use and to store food.
- eat VERY cheaply. Always try to find places that offer breakfast, visit the supermarket instead of restaurants, drinks to save money
- plan ahead for train and bus travel so you can get discounts on fares
- also, if you're a student, consider a study abroad program that will allow you to live in Europe for a semester or more.

I agree with the other answers. But to really get a sense of what it is like in Europe, I suggest you watch the Rick Steves videos on Europe. They are shown on public television, and also many libraries carry the videos so you could check them out for free and watch them. There are many videos on the different countries. Maybe once you watch the videos you can get a sense of where you'd like to go someday. Even if your parents can't afford it now, you can save up and go someday. Hope you are able to travel there at some point - it is wonderful to see the history, different customs and different food.

It is an amazing continent with countless places to see, things to do, tastes to savour, and cultures to experience. When you go there, especially in places like Italy, Greece, Germany, France, Spain, Turkey (European Side), Netherlands, and the U.K. to name a few, history just comes alive. I mean it's hard for anyone to describe in words...like anything else you have to experience it...and I'm certain you will one day...
Have you looked at semesters abroad or student exchanges?...this might be a more feasible solution to get you to Europe. You could maybe ask your guidance counsellor. Another way might be to volunteer for an international organization - of course there you are likely to have age restrictions - again a guidance counsellor or teacher might help you with this.

Hi, i'm american living in europe. I live in france but travel often to spain, uk, netherlands, germany.
Europe... it's very different but also the same! I like it very much but its also very challenging at times... Everyone has a different experience here so...Ignore what people tell you or recommend and just do what you want to do, and go where you want to go!

I don't believe in god, but thank you for the "god bless".
London was interesting but it made me so homesick for New York. There was actually worse smog in London than New York. Amsterdam was fun and quaint. I've never been to Italy but I would love to go!
