I know in my country (U.S.) burning the flag is protected by the Bill of Rights, free speech and all that.
I know that protecting their right to do that also protects my right to say stuff like, "Muhammed is not the prophet", and not be burned for it.
I think the same thing goes for you guys, since we got most of our ideas about liberty from our British fore-fathers and the Magna Carta.
If we protect the expression of extreme ideas (as long as they hurt no one) then we also protect our own.
I don't think banning the burning of the Union Jack is a road you really want to start down.
I know it's corny, but you should look up the movie footloose and see the connection when people start going crazy banning stuff for the common good.

The flag is only a symbol. People burn it to get your attention. I am old enough to remember the Vietnam War here in the US. There were many demonstrations, marches, protests, etc. where the flag was burned, also President Nixon was burned in effigy. I didn't think it was a good idea, because it sent the wrong message. But the people who did it loved their country, they just hated what it had become, what it was doing.
We have had many proposals here to ban flag burning. But they are all part of a general movement to chill protests and dissent altogether. Disagreeing with your nation's policies is not unpatriotic, it is often a patriotic duty.

Hai Flag represents a country and it's people, burning a countries flag is real nonsense. I think it should be dealt as a criminal offence. These people have no morals and what they are going to do for others.

I think that most of those stupid protest should be outlawed. They always in up becoming out of control and meaningless.I don't believe that any free world country should allow anyone to burn that nations flag, due to the sacrifices that nation went through to achieve what it is.

Flag burning is a time honored form of protest. You can of course be charged with setting a fire, etc. Unless in time or war under a war measures act this is just a civil disobedience.

i think that burning a flag wont hurt as killing and burning innocent people and poor children in Iraq and other muslim country do.protest are a very civilized way to say no to the unjustified wars waged on islam and muslims .Uk armies are killing 10000s of poeple in iraq but are also being killed and that's the reason for what people do peacefully in the streets even when they sometimes burn flags .burning flags will never happen if the war stopped murdering poeple in their own homes for oil . i hope it's clear enough.

Let them burn any flag they want. They're wasting their energy and they're the ones facing the "heat of the moment".

I just think it's funny that they can desecrate something special in one culture but get absolutely pissed when anyone else depicts Mohammed [I know I spelled it wrong].
