t sub 1/2 = ln(2)/λ
where

ln(2) is the natural logarithm of 2 (approximately 0.693), and
λ is the decay constant, a positive constant used to describe the rate of exponential decay.

I'm not sure the exponential decay formula applies here... :)

The study of human decay for forensic purposes has been, and continues to be, an important frontier in criminal science.

I doubt that there is a "proper" formula, but there are probably some approximate formulas that may apply for different circumstances. Keep on watching Peterson on Las Vagas whatever.
