Yes I think that soundtrack music is extremely undervalued. Given that AWE had only three or four themes and then the rest of the movie was just those themes modified was okay. I mainly go to movies now to listen to their soundtracks since most movies I can figure out within a half hour.
I also think that soundtrack's should get more apprectition because imagine how less scary 28 Days/Weeks later would have been or how much less fun Shrek or Talledega Nights would have been.

YES! I do. I lost my hearing in 1995 while in the Navy, (God I miss the music!) and still took a music class in College. (I got a 4.0!) I did a report on my fav: John Williams.
I proved that he is NOT just some shmo who writes background music, but actually helps in telling the story. Take away the music from Jaws, Star Wars, or Jurassic Park, and I'll tell you, the movie wouldn't be the same!

YES ABSOLUTELY!!!
There are some old movies out there with GREAT soundtracks that are completely unavailable today to the public. For example the theme music in obscure movies like "Spies Like Us" and the original "Karate Kid" are impossible to find, even though they are masterpieces. Songs like "King's Motorcade" that was played in the movie "Coming To America" are very uplifting melodies that are only available if you rent the movie. It sucks.

Yeah, but not a lot people go to the movies to listen to music. So it is understandable.
But epic scores, like the Lord of the Ring's soundtrack, I love.
