Look like you have power but no control so drill and more practice drill at the net until you have control. Don't run away from problem, face it.

Get rid of the fear and start playing your game. Accidents
do happen and a good sportsmanship is to immediately
apologize and get back to your game. The same could be
said the other way around....think of it if your friend hit you
accidentally on your throat.....
Always keep your eye on the ball even after you hit it. Get a
feel to how high the net is and practice against the wall.
If you attack at the net, practice the box game against the
wall or a partner.

Well... if you want to get rid of your fear of hitting the net, you could either. A) Try not to hit the net
B) not play tennis
C) try to increase your accuracy and reduce power so your shots are more precise. I'd say to not swing a full powered forehand swing. If you want to get more of a loft to get the ball over the net and clear it with a lot of power and still get it inside the other person side of the court, then swing a low forehand and flick your wrist slightly after contact, make low swings, like you are trying to slice it forehand.

You can't be concerned about hitting them. Few people are hurt and this sounds like a freak accident. Forget it and have fun at the net. Don't let a little accident stop you. Go get 'em!

If you are at net, then volley away from your opponent and into the open part of their side of the court. If you are staying back at the baseline, hit higher with topspin, focus on the opponent's back part of their side of the court, and.....
practice, practice, practice!
Good luck and have fun!

the best thing would be to practice hitting those shots. the more you do it the more comfotable you will feel at the net. you should also gain more control that way... which should make your friend feel a little bit better too. ;)
