Can a sheep explode by eating too much or not?

Sheep will not explode if overfed. They will however bloat to the point where a trocanter (a spiral metal spike) has to be used to puncture their stomach to relieve the pressure on their lungs or they will suffocate.

I know of a sheep exploding in video games and fiction stories.
I do not think sheep would explode from over eating. In reality, sheep devotes more time to eating than to any other behavioral activity. It is true that they will consume feeds at a level far higher than necessary to provide essential nutrients however those will just make the sheep fatter.No explosion but fattening.

There is an event in the novel Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy where some sheep are all bloated up because of some poisonous plant they've eaten. Gabriel Oak has to pierce their skin in order to release the gas, otherwise they'd die.

Well they cannot technically explode but if let into a field of turnips or swede they can gorge and their gut can really blow up with gas to an alarming degree and need expert intervention.

I doubt it... but cows can!! Well not really, but there was an incident in which a guy was killed when he tried to light a cows f*rt, te methane caught light, the cow 'exploded', and he was hit in the head by the cows femur and killed. That is a true story.

Horses is the only animal that I know of that will actually eat theirselves to death! Even hogs won`t do that. That`s where the old saying comes from"Eat like a horse". There very well COULD be others, but I`ve never read of any other.

Well I haven't heard of an American exploding yet and they're most likely to if it is possible by over eating.

NO they can't explode from eating too much.............they only way you could get them to explode would be to graze them in a mine field.
