Iraq is in the throes of its worst political crisis since the fall of Saddam Hussein with the new democratic system, based on national consensus among its ethnic and sectarian groups, appearing dangerously close to collapsing, say several politicians and analysts.

This has brought paralysis to governmental institutions and has left parliament unable to make headway on 18 benchmarks Washington is using to measure progress in Iraq, including legislation on oil revenue sharing and reforming security forces.

Did the surge just become totally irrelevant? If the Iraqi leaders don't take the opportunities like the article suggest.Don't you think those Iraqi politicians might try harder if they didn't have the US to cover them,to protect their power?Wouldn't they work harder to compromise if they had everything to loose?

Well this is the US, so we will send more money to prop up a failing puppet government. That is the American way. Then they will set their propaganda spin machine to work calling into question the patriotism and loyalty of any politician who dares to point out the obvious about Iraq. The hate radio icons will pick up the story and somehow blame the failing Iraqi government on the communist liberals, or my personal favorite idiotic word from the conservatives "neo-com" and Bill Clinton. The ignorant followers will be flocking to Answers in droves with their multiple accounts to bloviate and make themselves sound intelligent and knowledgeable about the situation calling people who question the Iraqi government any number of foul names. Finally they will convince themselves that the failing Iraqi government is indeed a good thing because it means they are embracing democracy in its fullest and isn't that we always wanted for them?

There is absolutely NO reason to still have US troops in Iraq. After all Mission Accomplished was over 4 years ago. What on earth business do we have protecting a failing government that can't keep its country under control. If we weren't there they would have to step up the plate. Why doesn't personal responsibility apply to the Iraqi government?

Today I called my five month old grandson into the den and ORDERED HIM TO WALK and if he didn't he was going to get severe consequences.

On hearing all this my daughter, the mother, came into the den and said ,"What the hell are you doing?? HE IS TO YOUNG TO KNOW HOW TO WALK.HE HAS NOT HAD TIME TO DEVELOPE ALL THE OTHER SKILLS LIKE CO-ORDINATION TO BE ABLE TO WALK".

This is a perfect analogy to Iraq today.

It takes years/decades for a democracy to function at all and longer for cit to do it well.Just think of the US itself and the long time it has taken your democracy to get where it is today.

The fact/reality is that Iraqis LIKE MY GRANDSON ARE TOTALLY UN-ABLE TO MAKE THEIR GOVERNMENT OPERATE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO BLOODY EXPERIENCE IN THE VERY COMPLICATED BUSINESS OF RUNNING A DEMOCRACY.
They just have not learnt many fundamental necessary skills needed to govern .The most important of these "things" is COMPROMISE .

The long pent up religious and secular animosities of the Iraqi people were released when Saddam was toppled and it will take years and tears for all these "feelings" to be exorcized and the CIVIL WAR they are now having is part of that exorcism.

NOBODY can even hope to govern a country, any country under the circumstances in Iraq today NO MATTER HOW MUCH THE WAR MONGERING BUSH ADMINISTRATION AND CONGRESS WANT THEM TO .Remember it was BUSH that opened up this horrid slaughtering pandora's box.

Aside from not having the skills necessary to govern the next question is "Why is why do Iraqis not have these skills?"

The answer is very simple .THE US IS THE PRIMARY CAUSE .

WHY you ask.

The only reason the US is in the Middle East (aside from protecting the 51st state called Israel) is because of OIL OIL OIL OIL OIL OIL OIL .

The history of thec US in the Middle East from after WW1 to the present has been one long series of ATROCITIES.

For example ,in 1953 the US destroyed the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED GOVERNMENT OF IRAN (and you wonder why they hate America and Americans) all because that government stupidly believed it had a right to do with it's own natural resourses what the hell THEY wanted to do with them.

The US in it's arrogance, beligerence and empirialism simply had the CIA destroy the government (On the orders of Presidents ,the US has destroyed at least 15 democracies in the world since 1950 all for PROFITS) .

Bad enough the US as usual completely violated international law and violated the soverenty of another nation
,it put into power it's own puppet, the vile murderous right wing dictator the Shah of Iran who for the next 26 years with his dreaded secret police ,the Savaak, killed thousands of political dissidents.

Throughout the entire region, the US has militarily, economically and politically supported vile murderous right wing despots right up to this very day as exampled by Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Between 1979 and 1990 ,the US totally supported /aided the Butcher of Bagdad even when the world discovered that D+saddam had comitted a crime against humanity in gassing the Kurds.

All of this to say this,

1.The US BY IT'S VERY ACTIONS does not and never has placed any priority on the lives, customs, human rights of the people's of the Middle East.

2.By constantly supporting and KEEPING IN POWER vile murderous right wing dictators ,the US HAS GUARENTEED THAT the peoples of the Middle East HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO POLITICALLY EVOLVE NATURALLY AND LEARN THE SKILLS REQUIRED TO GOVERN.

So we have here the classic example of the "VICTIM BEING FURTHER VICTIMIZED"

To now here Bush, the Congress and the American people demonizing and vilifying the Iraqis for not being able to govern when it was the very US that was so culpable in the Iraqis and others never having the chance to develope these skills,is simply MONUMENTAL HYPOCRICY of the highest order.

Like this poster, many are in a deluded state. The Iraqi leaders CANNOT take any opportunities offered because Iraq is having a controlled civil war (controlled only because of US military power which when removed will see a full blown civil war just like Americans had.

The decades of pent up hatreds, animosities, rivalries and vengence seeking must be exorcized before ANYTHING LIKE RUNNING A FUNCTIONAL GOVERNMENT can take place

And the Iraqi Parliament is taking the month of August off because of the heat.

They know the US won't leave(the oil). You may be able to help a country win but if they don't care, you can't make them.

Just weeks ago the Iraqi Government stated that they were ready to stand on their own!
I can't keep up.

It's their own fault not ours. We are helping them, it's their choice whether or not to stand on their own. Frankly, I'm sick of your constant communist, and socialist rants. Being an administrator at Yahoo must be a tough job spreading your communist beliefs all over this forum.

Didn't you hear on ABC yesterday how we are teaching the Iraqi's dance and music? Of course you would never be the bearer of good news over there now would you?

Don't worry. The U.S. will help their puppet government, because we need to control their country. We will never leave them alone.
