Pirate Shirt Dot Com
by Shannon Risk
$16.95 at Amazon
Or, you can check at your local library. Maybe if they don't have it, they wlll get it on interlibrary loan for you.

Book Description
Something unusual is happening at 57 Grove Street in Bangor, Maine. Within those fine Victorian walls, the ladies of Pirate Shirt Dot Com insist they are not running a dating service—it’s a romantic adventure company. Their quirky business comes complete with a male pirate model on all of their publicity materials. In the middle of helping customers tap their greatest romantic fantasies, however, Susana Hammond, her sister, Sophie Hammond, and their friend, Gabby Killeen, soon find themselves ensconced in their own passionate adventures. For spunky Susana, a handyman she calls “Yummy Tool Belt Guy” brings new meaning to home decoration. Gabby’s fiancé, a soldier, comes home to her amid tragedy. A pilot—not a pirate—woos sophisticated Sophie’s heart. Will these women find their own happiness with their modern-day lusty love pirates, or will they be out to sea?

Hemingway has some good stories, like The Snows of Kilimanjaro, and his novel For Whom the Bell Tolls.
The French Liutenant's Woman, by John Fowles.
Gone With the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell is a great novel.
The Incredible Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera
The Good German, by Joseph Kanon.

Hope this helps.

Well you can try "Pendragon" or "The Odyssey".

Pendragon is good. It's like a journal of a 15 year old guy that has to travel to different worlds to save them. And he's on a quest to save Halla. D.J. Machale is the author. Read it, it is awesome.

The original Odyssey by Homer, translated. Great book, honestly, I read it during my vacation to Bei Jing. A truly amazing book but you must read the original. Do not read the watered down ones, they are just insulting.

HP isn't bad. They give me a good laugh now and then.

If you like a warped sense of humor and a good take on life, try David Sedaris' books. He wrote "Me Talk Pretty One Day" "Naked" "Barrel Fever" "Dress Your Family in Courdoroy and Denim" and "Holiday on Ice". http://www.barclayagency.com/sedaris.html

"Lucky" and "Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold are also very good... a very poignant memoir and an unusual point of view on a murder story. Both are very good! Happy reading!

P.S. You know if you would say something about "not Harry Potter" SOMEONE was going to come along and have something to say about that! lol, some fans will defend him to the end!

If you're between 12 and 18 and into video games and best friends stories I think you might like my new novel GAMEPLAYER: The Genesis Portal.
GAMEPLAYER follows the adventures of Nine-dog, Gator and Louie; three racially diverse buddies growing up in the skateboarding, video gaming obsessed Santa Monica, California beach life-style.
It's available at the normal online sites like amazon, B&N, Borders, etc.
You can check it out free by reading the prologue on my site www.myspace.com/gameplayerbook.

Just a suggestion,
Gary Anderson

thank God that there is an anti harry potter person out there.
Try reading philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' triology, Robert Jordan's ' the wheel of time' or Tolkien's 'Lord of the rings'

They're all fantasy books (there's a little bit of magic in all of them but its only a minor part in all of them) but they're all my favs.

If not try 'the God delusion', 'the da vinci code', 'angels and demons' and/or 'gates of fire'. No magic in any of these and they're good reads

Oh, I LOVED Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison. I probably wouldn't have read it if my teacher hadn't even suggested it to me. They are so funny you can't read them in public as people will think you are crazy because you will be laughing your head off. I also loved Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.

Try "lovely bones". Its a great book and doesn't have anything to do with magic.
