Personally I like clown loaches. I have never had problems with them bothering guppies or any other fish that doesn't live mostly on the bottom of the tank. What surprises most people is the fact that clown loaches can get quite large. In the wild they are found at up to about a foot, but 8" is a large tank specimen. They do grow slowly, so if you buy small one's they will be ok in an an average sized tank for quite a while, but eventually they would need a quite large tank, something on the order of a 125 of so, just for good swimming room.

Again, most any fish that doesn't live on the bottom of the tank full time should make a good tank mate for a clown loach. It's possible they would go after very young baby guppies, especially if the babies hide at the bottom during the night.

Clown loaches will eventually need a 1000 litre tank, they should be kept in a minimum of eight to be kind but the more the better, they school together. They prefer a medium to strong water current, this will reduce stress and relates more to there natural enviroment.. they like tight hiding places, small gaps, caves. the more hiding they have the more you wil find they come out. There feeding frenzies are great!. They need a very good water turn over. Two good external filtres will do the trick. If you keep up with water changes minimum 25percent a week.. and have good aeration, filtraion and feed them well. Clown loaches are an excelent community fish. I have 12 and none have harmed my guppys. Buying the extra three clown loaches will make a big difference to there character but hardly make a difference to tank space due to there hiding.be prepared to need a big tank in the future or don't buy them. Always keep a bottle of contraick just incase because they will get it, it's just a waiting game. quarantine all new fish for two weeks before adding them to the tank. Hope this helps, like with all pets they require work. I find clown loaches to be well worth it. :)

5 clown loaches will need a tank over 125 gallons.

clown loaches would be ok with guppies, but clown loaches are not small fishes.

They have slow growth rates but will get to 12 plus inches.

Easy, but again large.

Catfish, angle fish, Mollies and albino fish most the time.
Some clown loaches are aggressive some are lovely. There a bit like dogs you can get tow of the same dog and one may be lovely and be your best "friend" and the other may be a mad dog that kills everything and bites. So ask your pet shop you don't kneed to walk/drive there you can call them or you can research it on the Internet.
