I ask this question because I have a book titled "Love's Soft Voice." The theme is of the above nature. I want to know what others think because I'm a people person. I grew up with people from every ethnic origin and I believe that we are all connected. I do not mean for this question to be an ad to sell books. I asked this question a few days ago and I worded it different and I got reported for abuse. I also ask this question because multitudes of people have an American Indian heritage and I want to know how everyone feels especially multi-racial people. Let's face it, there are many stories about American Indian People associating with People of other ethnic origins but I have never read a book or seen a movie about an American Indian man falling in love with a run away slave. I feel that this type of story will be good and I want to know how others feel. Just for the record, this story is a legend that was handed down to me from my Ancestors.

You should write a book about it. Many writers write about feelings and expression, and interactions with many different cultures. You are passing it down from your Ancestors, it would be an honor to them.

Some people in yahoo answers are not good examples for book publishing. There are many prejudice people against mixing ethnic backgrounds. If you write a book instead, you will only get reviews from the critics. That's all.

It is a wonderful idea! We are a country based on a multitude of different cultures, traditions, values, and religious beliefs. The great thing about our country is our forefathers thought or anticipated a country that intertwines with everyone. Of course this is why we have the amendments in our constitution. Our forefathers also knew the country would become even more diverse as time went on.. and they are right. Love holds no boundaries and it does not discriminate. Although you will encounter people who are convinced a certain type of people should not mingle with another - basically these are the people who are "thinking" with beliefs they grew up with - if they only researched or really thought about it and become a well-rounded individual they would discover they may not think the way they were taught. I often wonder why an Irish woman can marry a German and all is well.. a white man can marry a chinese woman and all is well, but you go deeper and the roots of past beliefs hold strong when in reality it is no different from any other culture identity or race. I recently read about how indian reservations started and thought to myself.. they were no different than segration with the black race... the same as the Irish and German were discrimination against upon entering this country. There isn't a superior race... and that is what makes this country unique and promising to other people. Publish the book and I will read.. I would also share a story such as the one you are planning with my students... Good luck

I think its a good idea. Your right. No one has ever written a story about two different people like that. I'm a people person too. Unfortunately there are people who may think that this idea is outrageous but hey, is it not true that what one person likes the other may not agree? I'm sure there are many other people other then myself that are up for something new. In no offense to any person of any race but the common plot is either a white/black female/male falling in love with vice versa. It's such a common plot just because of the slavery history.

Good idea, keep us posted on your story. I wish I could read it when your done! :D I'm wondering how exactly you worded it last time that you got reported for abuse? Perhaps it was offensive to someone?

Good luck!

There has been a big problem among the Cherokee with this very issue of having taken freed slaves into their tribes (sometimes all over again as slaves, sometimes as freed), and whether these these freed slaves descendents mixing into their tribe is legitimate or not, now.

These slaves were called "Cherokee Freedmen". The Cherokee recently decided to basically kick out the Freedmen from being tribal members at all.

In case you weren't aware of it, almost all the Native American tribes were slaveowners long before the whites or Africans got here. They would take slaves from the leftovers of any battle with opposing tribes, killing most of the adult males, but taking some of them as slaves, and some of the younger males as slaves, and then the females as breeders.

Anyway, here is one fairly recent news article about the Freedmen being kicked out of the Cherokee tribe recently:

So this might help you in researching for your book. The actor James Earl Jones is one of these mixed African/Cherokee descendents.

All stories about love should be told. I wrote a story once about the love between a hot dog stand and a garden hose...but it didn't sell. I think your story is very likely to have happened. Go for it no matter what anyone thinks. It's your story and you should tell it.

Sounds like as good a basis as any other love story. I shall keep an eye out for it.

I still find it hard to accept that I've awakened into a world where this is even a topic of question.

Of course, certainly, for sure...it's a great idea.

Love knows no boundaries! Or at least, it shouldn't!

There will be some people who strongly disagree. There will be others who embrace this multiracial story. I think if you feel strongly about it you have to just do it.
