Solve by Multiplying through with the Common Denominator using Equation Editor:
11 1 8 19
____X + ____= ____X + ___
3 6 3 6

(11/3X + 1/6= 8/3X+ 19/6)

the problem above is correct I could not get it right over each other for some reason. eqaution editor stinks:) thank you again

Just subtract 8/3x from both sides, and 1/6 from both sides, and you'll get x=3.

(11/3)x + 1/6 = (8/3)x + 19/6
(11/3)x + 1/6 - (8/3)x = (8/3)x + 19/6 - (8/3)x
(11/3)x - (8/3)x + 1/6 = (8/3)x - (8/3)x + 19/6
(11/3 - 8/3)x + 1/6 = 19/6
[(11-8)/3]x + 1/6 = 19/6
(3/3)x + 1/6 = 19/6
x + 1/6 = 19/6

x + 1/6 = 19/6
x + 1/6 - 1/6 = 19/6 - 1/6
x = (19-1)/6
x = 18/6
x = 3

The common denominator is 6. Multiplying every term by 6 yields
11x*(6/3) + 1*(6/6) = 8x*(6/3) + 19*(6/6)
22x + 1 = 16x + 19; subtract 1 from each side to get
22x = 16x + 18; now subtract 16x from each side to get
6x = 18; divide both sides by 6
x = 3

11/3X + 1/6= 8/3X+ 19/6
Multiply by 6:
22x + 1 = 16x + 19
6x = 18
x = 3.
