We have a 1987 corvette and its hit 154 mph. What is the cheapest thing I can get to increase its horsepower to 300.

cheapest of all would be to lose some weight. Lose anything not needed in the car ie: floormats, air conditioning, spare tire,washer fluid resivoir, thats all free stuff. Change heavy things on the car to lightweight like an aluminum driveshaft, aluminum radiator, some racing seats, aluminum underdrive pullies, a fiberglass hood (unless the stock one already is). Freeing up weight can lead to higher top speeds and every 100 lbs. equates to .1 seconds off 1/4 mile times and 3 more mph.
