Marriages based on love are, definately, more successfull - first because it's their choise (the partners) , and when there is love, many obstacles dissapear. They say love is the closest thing we know to magic, love makes you make sacrifices without regreting them, it changes people, it can make you a better person and it makes you live life to the full. How else can you accept another person's flaws, how else can you really be there for someone when he is in need? There must be love.

I had a friend that wasn't married but had an arranged marriage to a fifteen year old girl, when she was eighteen they would be married, he was 23 at the time. I would have to look at stats to see which type of marriage is more successful but I have read a lot about arranged marraiges and I have nothing against them as long as everyone involved is okay with it. Despite what you may think, love can grow in an arranged marraige a love just as strong as when a couple falls in love first and then gets married.

To be honest being in love with the one you marry doesn't guarantee that the marriage could work and viceversa, but at least when you love someone you want to make it work. I met a girl when I was in high school that had an arranged marriage even before she was born but I never knew how it ended. But I think an arranged marriage could last more than a normal marriage because it will be control by the parents so they don't have a choice.

I have been surrounded by arranged marriages my whole life and have never witnessed a divorce. I think it's because when you go on the basis of love, you do your best to get to know that person beforehand and after the marriage, there's nothing really new there and alot of people want excitement. (And then there are those lucky couples who are completely content with their spouse) However, with arranged marriages, you spend a few years getting to know the person and by then you will have kids, so you always have something changing.

No I dont know anyone who was married to someone their family arranged. When you say successful marriage do you mean one that stays together? There are alot of people who love each other dearly but cant keep their marriage together and there are people who hate each other and fight constantly but will not divorce. Its more about what you are willing to do to keep a marriage together even if it is not working out as you hoped it would. There is nothing that gaurantees a happy and loving relationship.

I work overseas and most of my co-workers have had arranged marriages. I honestly don't see any difference. They have the same problems, the same high points. They claim that you grow to love someone. One other advantage is that because the marriage is arranged there is a great deal of openness between the two sets of parents about the strong points and weak points of both partners. Many of the people I know feel this helps prevent "false advertising" by one partner or the other as happens in many dating situations.

I dont know about love marriages. Mine is an arranged marriage and we are going strong since 1994 jan. What more do you want to know. Love has nothing to do with before or after marriage. It is a sense of belongingness and sacrifice. You can love after marriage too. If you wish to read about my marriage do visit http://mathewstw.110mb.com

I think most marriages based on "love" are really about lust, which fades. Arranged marriages have been working for centuries. When so many others end in divorce, maybe we should give arranged marriages more of a chance.

yes i know a young lady who left school to marry the husband her parents had choosen for her. arranged marriages are made with the best intentions and since it not only involves the couple but the families it adds more tension to make the couples work their differences out instead of heading for divorce. and sometimes, love con grow from these marriages.
