Problem with sound?

I installed a new Sims 2 expansion game yesterday. After it was installed, I no longer have sound such as window's sounds. I do have sound in the game though?? Does anybody know why this happened and how to fix it?

Click on the"SPEAKER Icon" on the Task Bar. Make sure MUTE box is NOT checked.
