Usually you just grab the burner and gently pull. They unplug easily. I put foil in mine all the time because we have a rental and it keeps the drip pans clean. It DOES NOT cause fires unless you do not replace the foil when heavily soiled! I have been doing this for years, as has my mom, and grandma, and they never had a problem.

I have had electricians and stove/oven repair men tell me that it amplifies the heat to such a degree that it can cause the rubber coating on the wires underneath to melt, touch and cause a fire. The best thing to do is sprinkle mess with salt while it is hot. It comes off pretty easily once it cools.

You cannot even spell "THROW" and you want to do something technical? Were you deprived oxygen in the womb?
