Success has only one meaning. To accomplish what you set out to do.
A person who has absolutely nothing, but always wanted to get by without doing a day's work, and never did work-- - he's a success
If a person has the ambition to have a billion dollars, but at the end of his earning life, but he's a thousand dollars short - - he's a failure.
To me, personally, success is to be able to find contentment, comfort, the lack of financial worries. I am well up in years, and have achieved just that. I am completely contented.

Success is a socially constructed phenomena. A successful Buddhist is different from a successful Capitalist. You get to choose what you want to be successful at and then chose to measure your success.

If you have $1 and I have $1.01 then obviously I am more successful than you. If you use money as a guide there will always be those who are more successful than you and those who will be less successful than you.

Living up to some ideal of success is an endeavour that most are better bypassing.

If it is fame, then we have the same quandry. If you have 10 fans and I have 20 fans then I am more famous that you. You will feel badly about yourself as I am now more famous. You will find your self in an endless struggle competing to be the most successful or the most famous.

A lack of fame and a lack of success are closely related to having morals. A moral person will always punish themselves.

I feel that I am successful in that I have achieved most of the goals that I set for myself. You don't need fame and fortune to be successful.

Doing what I want for a living. Being happy. Making money being creative. Being able to quit the soul-destroying job I currently have for something more rewarding and meaningful...or having enough money that I never have to work again and can relax and enjoy life.

I want to be successful in writing my book and getting my message out to as many people who I can. If I make money in the process than I am doubly blessed in success.
