The University of South Carolina does have a very good football team but I wasn't aware that they were deserving of this much prestige.
Could you furnish me with a website? I'm having trouble finding this list.
Air Peace: I am very aware that he was speaking of Southern Cal. I was just trying to add a little humor. However, I still can't find the website with this information because I want to see how LSU fared on this list.

Things like this kinda make me crazy, I mean there are still 3 seasons in this decade. Wouldn't the decades best be more appropriately discussed after the decade is over? But if you were going on a "so far this decade.........."
For this decade there is no doubt. Just since 2002 (5 of the seven years of this decade) USC has the following:
5 top 4 AP finishes
5 BCS bowl appearances
5 PAC-10 championships
5 seasons with at least 11 victories (only Nebraska 93-97, Florida St 96-2000, and Oklahoma 2000-2004 have done that)
A winning record of 59-5 (92.2%) Best in nation
56 wins in last 60 games with the losses coming by a total of just 12 points.
A national record 63 straight 20-point games
A national record 33 consecutive weeks as AP's #1 team
23 victories over AP top 25 teams (23-3 overall, 88.5%)
3 Heisman winners
2 National Championships
5 top 5 recruiting classes
24 All American First teamers
30 NFL draft picks including 7 first rounders
And now we have the 2007 season to look forward to, with:
Heisman frontrunner John David Booty
NC implications
8 pre-season All American first teamers, and 5 other all americans
3 linebackers that are up for the Bednarik Award (top defensive player) - most teams would be stoked to have one
It is a good time to be a Trojan
Of course we now have to deal with the ESPN "greatest" thing curse again.

Yes, USC is the team of THIS decade. I think the conference argument is always funny because yes they do play in a weak conference, but there are non-conference games and they are usually against pretty good teams. Also, horrible teams usually aren't in the bowl games they play in, the teams might play poorly but they aren't horrible teams the rest of the year obviously. USC wasn't anywhere close to being as good last year as it was in years past, and it's understandable, because Matt Linehart is a pretty good QB especially in college, and Reggie Bush is developing in the NFL after dominating college. the Buckeyes should be #2, as they have been pretty good this past decade too. They've won or made it to the National Championship game a few times and they have produced a large quantity of quality players as well.
Where is Miami (FL) at on this list? They shouldn't be at the top, but they should probably be 3rd or 4th because they had some pretty good years too (minus the last few seasons).

USC probably deserves the #1 because they won 2 national championships, but Miami did the exact same thing a few years earlier, except that the BCS cheated them out of their first National Championship game and the pollsters wouldn't give them their championship.
USC had Leinart, Bush, White, Mike Williams, Jarrett, Steve Smith and alot of other offensive stars, but few superstars on defense
Miami had Portis, McGahee, Gore, and Najeh Davenport at RB, they had Shockey and Winslow for TEs, Ed Reed was the superstar of their defense.
Both the Hurricanes and Trojans have a legitimate claim at #1. Ohio State won 1 national championship with Maurice Clarett and then made it back to the national title game ages later and got blown out. They definitely don't to be ranked ahead of the Hurricanes or the Trojans.

I do not see any argument against it. USC has been mentioned every year fighting for the title. Ohio St, well i guess that could fly they have been up there as well but that could be easily argued. OSU has had the guts to schedule some pretty tough teams and they have played them tough to the end. I think they played three number two teams throughout the year last year. No argument for number one though, it is USC. And the treat comes in 08/09 when these two have a home and home scheduled against one another.

Yeah of course USC is number one. They have had 2 National Champmionships, havent lost a bowl game since 2001, have won the Pac 10 title 4 years straight. Even though they play in a weak conference, they often play tough out of conference schedule, and have won bowl games against teams like Oklahoma, Michigan, and the game they lost against Texas, well they lost by 3 points. I agree with ESPN. USC is number 1.

I agree since they had a very dominant team for the past few years.
I was expecting Miami to be up there, but I agree with Ohio State being up there (and you can clearly see who im a fan of)
I'm not going to argue Penn State...because it seems to be right on. If Drew Henne didn't screw us over, we'd be in the top 20 easy. (He verbally said he would go to PSU, then changed his mind at the last second and brought a star WR...the name is on the tip of my tounge with him)

Plus USC in the last 5 years has not lost by more than a touchdown and a couple plays. OSU was blown out last season by Florida. period.

its not fair that USC gets all the good players and teams like Rice or clemson gets what is left over i think there should be steps taken that even up the field so winning is so easy for USC and so hard for everyone else.
