The War in Iraq: We entered the war based on a falsehood and have destabilized Iraq and to some extent its neighbors. While absolutely do not agree with our reasons for invading, I also see no way we can leave it as is without wronging the Iraqi people further. Unfortunately we may not be able to afford the money it will take to re stabilize Iraq. If we can then we have an obligation to stay, if we are indeed borrowing from China to finance the war then we need to leave. If we destroy our own country to attempt to save another and fail at it then we are simply monumentally stupid.
Illegal immigration: First we must establish that this is not an issue of racism or civil rights. It is an issue of border security. Enforce current laws and upgrade those agencies responsible for our borders. Severely punish citizens and business that hire illegal immigrants. Or we could solve the problem completely. Eliminate minimum wage and pay deductions, remove income tax and replace it with tax on consumption, make all other deductions voluntary. If US workers could compete with illegal immigrants then hiring them would no longer be attractive. They would simply be another worker who didn't speak the language as well as others. But this solution is less likely to occur then most science fiction.
Gay Marriage: This is a state issue and should be left to state legislators. It is not a national issue or it shouldn't be. Gay Marriage has no bearing on the average citizens quality of life or national security or foreign relations or any other national concern.
Stem Cell Research: There is too much mis-information for me to make an educated comment. I am not a professional in the medical field and I do not trust the explanations I have been fed by the media. Perhaps this should be left to medical ethics.
Death Penalty: Also a states rights issue but so long as it is less likely to be sentenced to an affluent defendant I think it is unfair. Either kill all who commit certain crimes or none. Income or wealth should not be a factor. Since it obviously is then I am opposed.
Abortion: Tricky issue. I have a unique solution. Outlaw abortion and establish a national list of those opposed to it. To place ones self on the list, a person must have a sufficient income to support themselves and a family, Once on the list a person can remove their name if they desire though it would require a processing fee and a certain amount of time to process, So long as a valid name is on the list of people opposed, abortion remains illegal unless a doctor will testify that both mother and child will die if the pregnancy continues to term. Any mother who wishes to give up her pending or newborn child may do so and the top name on the list in order of people who signed it receives that child. If they refuse then they will pay child support till the child is 18 years old and they are removed form the list permanently. If no name is on the list then abortion is legal.
The Second Amendment: This can only be affected by an amendment to the constitution. It really is a non-issue since it is impractical in the extreme to outlaw firearms. There are simply too many to confiscate. Consider if guns were outlawed how would we go about rounding them all up? There are more guns then people in the country and the people in charge of rounding them up (law enforcement) are often in favor of the right to bear arms. Non-issue. It's like a law to out law foul language in the home. How in the world would you enforce it? If you can't then it is an impractical law and a waste of ink.
I am independent.

The war in Iraq = 9/11 was not done by Iraq so I think it was wrong !
Illegal Immigration (How to fix) = we need to close the border, bring our troops home and put them on our borders.
Gay Marriage = No sorry Marriage is for a man and a woman
Stem Cell Research = Yes
Death Penalty = only if it's in a very painful way. currently I think too many are getting off easy. I think spending life in a cell all alone would be worse then the Death Penalty.
Abortion = I'm not a fan like the Right wingers like to make us Dems out to be. do I think it should be banned........... No
The 2nd Amendment (Right to bear arms) Yes

Iraq: Its not realistic to say that we have to bring our troops home today but its also not fair that we go there blindly. Issue a statement to the Iraqi government saying if they dont meet strict deadlines our funding and our military resources will start going bye bye...If they really want us there they will have to do their share of fighting too....gradually hand over military and security responsibilities to the Iraqi Security Forces
Immigration: there will be illegal immigrants forever...no solution will stop it. But I do believe we should have smart borders, not closed or open borders. I dont believe amnesty should be allowed but I do believe people who can show that they paid income taxes every year for the past X years, can speak English, have a clean background should have a path to being a resident. I also believe a general fine should be set that they acknowledge that they did break laws by overstaying or hopping the border. I have absolutely no problem with getting rid of the real criminals, gang members, and people who take this country for granted.
Gay marriage: dont know, its pirvate business but I dont think they should get the same benefits as a normal couple. I believe they could adopt a child though. I dont really care for this issue because it doesnt really affect me.
Stem cell: all for it
Death Penalty: Im not opposed to it but it kind of makes me wonder how many innocent people have been executed due to bad technology.
Abortion: Should be legal in all states. Its private matter that I have no business in.
2nd amendment: keep it!! I love hunting and guns. I do believe in better background checks and mental screenings...look at VT.
I think im mostly a moderate leaning toward the left.

Sorry I didn't see Political Question #1, I'll look for it in a minute.
1. During the first 60 hours of the war while our troops were coming in, truckloads of missiles were crossing the Syrian border. Iraq did have WMDs and used them on their own people. Does anyone not remember this? As a veteran that sees the affects first hand everyday and is not brainwashed by the media, I think that things are going better since the surge. Don't get me wrong, war is hell I know, however we are starting to turn up the heat and with the advances in technology that we have our soldiers are safer. Technology also has contributed a big blow to our soldiers and I don't mean cell phone operated IEDs. The media is constantly bashing the war and anyone that supports it bringing the morale of our troops down so much that they have forgotten what they signed up for in the first place (to protect their country). If we pull out suddenly that is just an obvious defeat and all of the troops that have given their lives in this war will be for nothing. In my opinion we should seal the country shut not letting anyone in or out, and then deal with the insurgents that are already there. Iraq's government is still in the crawl stage and will be for a while. It is definitely not ready to stand on it's own. When we move out more insurgents and Iran will move in. Is this a war for oil? Probably. Are people profiting from it? Most definitely. I'll bet you didn't know that Saudi Arabia has more than twice the oil Iraq does and that Kuwait has almost as much. We also get more of our oil from Africa than we do from Kuwait. In conclusion, I think that we are in for the long run and we will win eventually.
2. I think that we need to make it a little harder to get into our country. Speaking English would have to be a requirement also a background check.
3. Whatever floats your boat.
4. I don't know enough about it to comment. I'll get back to you.
5. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. Bring back public executions on the courthouse lawn, violent crime would plummit. Make rape punishable by death (has to be three witnesses and extensive evidence).
6. Give up your child for adoption. If that doesn't suit you wear a condom, you can get them for free at any health clinic.
7. I think that we are in trouble about this one. No matter who gets into the white house there is going to be another revised version of the assault weapons ban "Brady Bill". I have a right to protect myself, my family, my neigbors, or some innocent bystander with whatever firearm I want to with. Statisitics show that places that ban guns have a much higher crime rate than places with no ban. Researchers have gone to prisons and asked prisoners what they think about before attacking someone. They said "I hope they don't have a gun". When asked if they would attack someone that they knew had a gun most said, "No". I again know first hand what a gun can do to intimidate a would be criminal. We have the 2nd Amendment in place because the founders of this country knew that eventually we would have a corrupt government that would need to be overthrown. What are we going to do when that does happen and we don't have a way to protect ourselves?
I used to be a Republican. I voted for Bush, but now all of the politicians are so one-sided, that if one side had a good idea the other would veto on the basis of principle and/or loyalty and hatred. I have no political affiliation now. In fact I'm considering moving my family to Switzerland.

We went to Iraq on false grounds. But that is currently irrelevant, because we are already there. Fix the mess, then you can start pointing fingers.
Illegal immigration? Fix it by following our immigration laws. Enforcing the law is the only way to "fix" anything.
Gay marriage - the government shouldn't be able to tell people that they can and can not get married. Gays should be able to marry if they want to.
Stem cell research - why is abortion legal, but the use of its refuse is not? That makes no sense to me. As long as abortion is legal, stem cell research should be legal too.
Death penalty? Yes.
Abortion - I'm pro-life. If a someone kills a pregnant woman they can be charged on 2 counts...why is is not murder when the woman kills the baby? But, I know that people will have abortions anyway, so at least having it legal provides a fairly safe environment in which for them to happen. So I'm not against it being legal...
Right to bear arms - yes. I have the right to bear arms, and I do. Making firearms illegal would do nothing but unarm law abiding citizens. Criminals would still get them if they wanted them.

Iraq: We never should have gone there, let's just get the hell out.
Illegal Immigration (How to fix): Legalize all the illegals so they HAVE to work for minimum wage and PAY TAXES. Therefore they stop stealing money and jobs from us. I'd also allow larger numbers of immigrants to come but they'd have to learn English.
Gay Marriage: Absolutely. And if it really pisses off teh Christians so much than at least give them civil unions with the same legal benefits of marriage.
Stem Cell Research: Absolutely. No questions asked. No answers needed.
Death Penalty: Unlike most liberals, yes, some criminals do not deserve to live
Abortion: It's too controversial, let the states decide. Except in the case of rape or the woman's life is threatened.
The 2nd Amendment (Right to bear arms): Do it Michael Bloomberg style, crack down on dealers selling illegal guns to criminals. Criminals should not own weapons.
I'm a Democrat, obviously.

The war in Iraq- we need to win, or we will really regret it. Then Iraqi's can have peace and a democracy and we can send our soldiers home. We leave now than that is the biggest slap in the face to the Iraqi's the allies who helped our country and especially our troops.
Anyone who spouts off phrases like war for oil or any othe propaganda show how little they know about what's going on, if it were for opil, we would have used our planes and bombed the place instead of ground troops, and we would have been out and had cheaper gas prices. That makes me made when uninformed people just make up things to support their "cause"
Illegal Immigration- kick em out if they don't follow the law. We shouldn't arrest them we don't need them in our jails. We give them the option of becoming an American citizen or leave.
Gay Marriage- sure why not, that new movie unfortunantly with Adam Sandler shows how people can screw the system over, so they hav to make sure some how that there aren't people doing that just to get insurance or this country will be in trouble, but as far as freedoms they should be able to be married. I have gay and lesbian friends and they would like to get married too.
Stem Cell Research- I'm not for it, just because there have been people who are candidates for it that have even said they don't want to do it because they don't believe there life is more important than another. I think there is an alternative resource on the way I heard something about, I say we use that.
Death Penelty- They get a shot and die, they dont suffer like the people that they have killed may have. I think we then don't pay for them to sit in jail for the rest of their lives. I think they have to make sure they ave 100% proof because I think there has been like 20 people die that were later found innocent so that is the snag, because you obviously want to make sure justice is being done. They have to have some way so they don't tie up the courts for 20 years eithe, they shouldn't let every case be re-tried 20 times, yet they also shouldn't give them only one chance. What I'm saying is we need less extremes, to filter ou those who are guilty but jsut wasting time, and those who are innocent, which lies on the judges.
Abortion- I'm not for or against it. I guess I more against than for it, but I think it should be used for incest and rape. I figure I'm a guy so really unless it's my kid it's not my problem, and if it were my kid I would be against it, but if these ladies can live with themselves afterwards than let them do what they want with their bodies.
The 2nd Amendment (Right to bear arms) Why not, I don't get why people use right to free speech even if they are abusing it, but don't respect other peoples rights to bear arms. I don't have a gun nor do I want one, but if someone else wants one to protect themselves or hunt with than that's their perrogative. That is why they have the Brady Bill for the cooling of period, and the guns are registered. They need to raid the illegal gun sellers so they aren't selling them on the streets to shady people.

1. Peace and prosperity in the Middle East would be one of Human-kinds greatest achievements given the Middle East's centuries of turmoil, war and oppression.
2. Need to better understand the current method. Government should communicate the current method and reason behind so all Americans can deal with facts rather then speculation.
3. Each state should have the authority to deal with this, not the Federal Government.
4. Life at all stages should be protected. Necessity is the Mother of invention. There are already new ways of progressing forward without using stem cells.
5. I like the death penalty when used properly
6. Life at all stages should be protected and people should take more responsibility for their actions. There are much better answers then abortion.
7. Right bear arms is mis-interpreted. This was written in when armed militias were necessary so citizens needed to arm themselves. That condition does not exist today. With that being said this is America, we should allow firearm sales with the proper controls in place.
I am in the middle, maybe leaning a bit to the right.

It doesn't matter if Iraq is right or wrong we have to finish the job,
Cut all support to the illegals and make it a huge fine or do time if caught helping.
No gay marriage or support to them
No to embryonic stem cell research
No to abortion and teach abstinence
Let people have the normal types of guns like for hunting and enforce and make stricter those who commit crimes with them.
Not sure about death penalty, not the present system.
