As a human race in whole, is sexual gratification used primarily as an identifier of someones love for us, or love of ourselves. Since it is for procreation purposes...then why the need to share with a partner for other reasons than procreation?

Without love as a moderater we would be screwing like rabbits with the same results. Very few people act like this and if they do something has gone wrong with their pathology.
God gave us tender feelings and strong emotions, love is the pivot of the pendulum that sorts them out and balances the two.

While you should never use sex to "identify" if someone loves you, I believe that sex is a very very important part of any committed relationship. When two people that are in love have sex, there is a connection and an emotion that can only be achieved through it. Why would anyone not want to experience such a wonderful feeling.

Steven25t, You have a great point and I don't know how to answer that... .....but sex isn't always intercourse. It's a feeling and a feeling that can be achieved with someone you love.

You are looking as sex with love attached to it. You say that sex is "shared" for procreation, I don't realy agree I think that people have sex 90% of the time just for pleasure and the other 10% probably for procration...
I believe that sex is just an attraction between two people and sometimes is just lust and a need of the body.
I think society teached people about sex through love because it's "easier" to grasp.

Under this theory, anyone with one child should only have sex enough times to produce that one child. All sex should stop thereafter. If there are no more plans for children, there is no reason to engage in sex. You believe sex is for procreation. That belief will cause you suffering.

I'd be curious to know who taught you this and why you were willing to believe it.
