This is a great opportunity for me to impress my boss. She is letting me stay in her NYC apartment rent-free for a month under the condition that I care for her large dog and 2 cats. I've grown up on a farm around animals but what questions should I ask on my "walk-thru" with her, such as the number for the vet?

I would think she'd have a list of things pertaining to her dog and cats for you to follow. First, you need to visit just in case the dog doesn't take a liking to you and you find yourself being growled at for a month...and sometimes cats can be tricky too, but for the most part with cats if you find out they aren't the "touchy-feely" types, just give them fresh water, food to eat and change their litter box and all is good. Second, ask her what you should do, and then go from there, questions on both parts should come and thirdly, don't forget to ask for her cell number, the vet's number and friends' or relatives' numbers that are familiar with her pets just in case something comes up. Good luck with the pet sitting. Also, because it's New York City, ask where and how often to walk the dog and if the dog is friendly to other dogs and people. They give tickets if you don't properly restrain dogs and pick up after them. Oh, if the dog doesn't like you, rethink your offer...nothing like an unfriendly dog stalking you for a month! (smile)

Vet number, where's their food, how much do they eat and when do they eat and where do they eat, do they get treats if so where are they and how much can they have, do the animals have any health issues you need to know about, cat box and cat litter where are they, are they on any kind of meds, and the bosses cell # and where she can be reached. Have her call the vet ahead of time to ok the bill to be charged to her in case of an emergency.

Ask which food to feed which, how much and when to feed? If you can walk them/any when, where and where is everything located. Yes vets number. Ask is it okay to let any animals out or keep them in? If you need to clean anything like the litter box for cat? Need to watch anything while gone? Anything cats or dogs are not allowed to do, or go like get on bed or couch? Thats all i can think of for now. good luck with them! :]
