While this falls under the category of "old wives tale", having worked as a labor nurse I have seen firsthand that there definitely is some truth to it! We ABSOLUTELY see more women come in laboring during the full moon. We also see more women come in with ruptured membranes when the weather takes a quick turn (a strong cold front moving in when weather has been hot - changes in barometric pressure affect the sac).
Anyone who tries to dismiss it as a myth hasn't worked in a hospital to see it firsthand as I have.

In my opinion is it true. They say the pull of gravity helps your water break. Plus you always see babies born more around that time than any. I know several women who were due at a certain time but they all went early, during the full moon! Doctors couldn't explain it!

My obgyn AND the nurses at the hospital where I gave birth said that the delivery unit is always packed with birthing mothers during a full moon.

ive heard it quite a bit; and to add to the nurse who said about ruptured membranes with weather changes; my water broke during a hurricane; i was already 2 weeks late, so coincidence he was ready, or weather related? im not sure, but i do believe the weather/moon does affect many things, including labor.

I heard about this. It's a myth. They did a study and there was the same amount of births on full moons and non-full moons.
