Yes, it could dilute your urine so that the test doesn't detect the hormone. That's why it's best to do it first thing in the morning, the first time you go to the bathroom... or if you really want to take it in the middle of the day, you have to wait like 4 or 5 hours since the last time you peed.

It can if you are really really early in pregnancy. However once you get a little farther along your levels are so high it doesn't matter. I'm 5 weeks pregnant, and my doctor wanted to confirm with a urine test yesterday (at 4 weeks 6 days). I had just gone to the bathroom an hour before and drank some water, but the line came up right away as positive. When I took the HPT last week at 4 weeks, it was 2 hours after going to the bathroom and it came up posiitve right away as well.

Yes it can affect the results if you are near your missed period. The best time to test is in the morning because your urine is most concentrated, therefore providing higher levels of hcg for the test to read. You can also hold your urine for a few hours and then try. But if you are a week or so past your missed period then it shouldnt really matter.

First thing in the morning- that way it is for the most part- undiluted. At other times of the day- the urine would be too diluted from all the water to get an accurate result.
GOOD LUCK!

Yes, water will definitely dilute the hormone.
This is why they recommend you use first morning urine to test, because you haven't been drinking all night, and the urine has become concentrated in your bladder, making it more likely to detect the hormone.
