There's no way to even consider victory as a possibility when our soldiers are in the middle of a civil war!!!

Probably not soon, but I do think the tide is turning based on recent military reports and the hope that the current government is replaced with a more effective one as rumored. I see the troops being needed at some level for at least 2-3 more years.

The war in Iraq Has already been won..we toppled Saddam and his entire government. Stabilizing the region will take some time. If the terrorists were not attacking us in Iraq we could contain the War On Terror to Afghanistan where the War On Terror is actually based.

It's not a war. There are a lot of pissed off people in Iraq by our soldiers, we are policing them and in return they are attacking out. We will forever be fighting terrorists but I don't feel there really in Iraq. But it's hard to cast a real judgment because the information we are getting is from the media out for that dollar. I do know it's time for our troops to come home, it's been long enough and Bin Ladan is still MIA(that should of been our main focus)

I don't understand what there is to win there.
They just need to take care of their sovereign nation now, and hopefully not become an aggressor in the region. There is no guarantee; at some time in the near future, they might elect a fanatic religous leader that will drive Iraq back to ages darker than under Saddam.
Are the (R)'s planning to keep us there forever and control who they elect?

Winning has become problematic - only "the decider" can define winning, and he has consistently refused to do so. Maybe that's a classified secret that the public isn't allowed to see. My guess is that winning means keeping the money flowing to defense contractors and Bush cronies as long as possible, in which case no, we won't "win" anytime soon.

Those that are actually paying attention and aren't shooting from the hip hoping to hit Bush know that Iraq is heading in the right direction. Everyday it seems that instead of bombing attacks we hear that a large number or insurgents have been killed and local leaders are turning their support to the U.S.

WIN? Win what? we cannot win or lose....there is nothing to win or lose.....except lives and money. It's all about control of the middle east and the oil.....and we have no to right to control either....it's not ours....it's theirs.

The war ended years ago. We won.
Our current occupation should continue as long as the elected Iraqi government allows us to stay and hunt Islamic Fundamentalists who are bent on accomplishing the next
9-11 type event.
