nope. all a firewall does is protect what goes in/out of a computer.

if you want to protect the wireless signal login to your router and place an encryption key, the longer the better. for better security when you are logged into your router turn on mac address filtering, you add you mac address of you wireless adaptor and any other network facility that is allowed on the network. any other mac address will not be allowed access.

to find the mac address of your computer, it is sometimes supplied written on your network card or go on command prompt and type ' ipconfig' this will tell you your computers mac address.

No it does not. You need to get into the web interface on your router and set up WPA. WEP may also be an option, but it's easier than WPA to crack now. If you look at your manufacturer's website (like Linksys or Belkin or Netgear, whoever made your router) you should be able to find some how-tos on setting that up. Failing that, you can always search Yahoo or Google.

It will protect your machine but not stop someone from hijacking your connection from outside. Enable WPA to keep others out reliably.

If your router doesn't support WPA, see if you can get a firmware update the supports it. The older WEP encryption is fairly easy to crack. 64 bit WEP can fail in as little as 10 minutes. 128 bit will take a few hours in most cases.

WPA is uncrackable unless someone guesses your shared secret. For that reason it should be as long and as complex as possible.

Normally Wireless can be protected via WEB SPK by configuring your wireless router. Also you have to dissable all sharing folders on NETWORK. Use your firewall to prevent unauthorized network access. How to configure your router?? Which brand of router you are using? Search that brand's name on the NET like,, "How to secure wireless network on D link router?" Probably you will find solution on there. I would have given you tips how to configure but I do not know which router you are using.

Mine is protected via a data key - a string of 10 digits people need to enter into their comuter before they can access the wireless signal.

Configure your wireless router to use WPA2 security.
