Why do some on YA equate someone with different moral values to their own as having no moral values?

Intellectuals like Suthrnlyts are a good example: “I see morals and values going down the drain. The far left has none.”

Suthrnlyts - How can you "take away" someones morals? That makes no sense at all.

Also, I believe you have used others people names "in violation" of the rules too.

I'll be most happy to respond. It's the far left on this forum who continually use Europe as an 'good' example of where we should be heading. Yet, at the same time, I see many Brits showing up here complaining that their morals and values have been taken away.

Using my name is against Yahoo guidelines, but unlike many of the lowly people on this forum who enjoy giving violations out to those they disagree with, I won't lower myself to that level.

Thanks. :)

The only way a moral De- valuing could happen, is when we decide that ones morals should over ride anothers, based on self hypocrisy and closed mindedness.
If the choice affects no one but the chooser, then the chooser has the right to do as he/she pleases.
This does not mean that because someone else is upset over the decision, that the upset is cause to deny someone the right to self choice.

Everybody agrees that rape is immoral but there are some differences in everyone's morality. For example, many see abortion or homosexuality as immoral while others do not. Is the way they're raised and they believe what is good and wrong. Nobody has the same morals that doesn't mean they're evil is just that we all have different minds.

We all judge morals and values through different prospectives and eyes. What one might consider to be moral might not appear to be moral to another.

I can see where this poster that you point out might be coming from. I consider many things today that many see as being moral as being immoral and it has nothing to do with religious beliefs.

I have followed many of her posts and this poster is not a religious zealot at all. From what I've read, she doesn't support organized religion. That would lead me to believe that she has her own beliefs as to what is and isn't moral and like all of us, she has the right to speak out.

Thank You Fed Up American. You have echoed a perspective on the moral value issues that certainly created a turmoil in the pea-nut gallery of conservative hoopla. Though I personally limit direct assault on individuals participating on Y/A and consider suthrnlyts a worthy opponent, we all can be a bit "enthusiastic" at times anent our positions.

The two of you should kiss and make up :))

There's bound to be exceptions, but you can mostly figure that if someone talks about "moral values", they are simple-minded. Demonizing the opponent is par-for-th-course for these types.
Most people with an ounce of fair-mindedness don't talk about moral values because the jerks have tainted the term.
But even the lefties have values. More admirable values than those who want to destroy science curricula or interfere with the individuals freedom of conscience.

No one can "take your moral values away from you". More likely anyone who makes this complaint is trying to impose their "moral" values on you, in the USA it is usually the Christian Right starting with pressuring school boards to censor school text books and curriculum's. Beware the Right!

Being individuals I think our moralities differ. Example. I think it is immoral for someone to try and legislate others morality. Does this make me immoral? I think it is immoral to go to another country smash their culture and replace it with our own. So I think morality is subjective.

Suthrnlyts is one of the more rational cons on here. I like her. I mostly disagree with her, but she is not a foaming at the mouth fascist.

I see nothing intellectually wrong with her statement, since it is more a matter of opinion and cannot be really be backed up in any way. Since she say"I see..." that is saying it is her opinion and nothing more. One cannot argue over morals.

Way to umbrella all suthrnlyts. Obviously you're misinformed.

I apologize, I thought you were referring to all "southerners" in that context. Ok, the answer would be directed towards her.
