The youngest was 21 weeks, however most hospitals will not intervene with medical treatment to sustain the life of the child until the pregnancy has reached 23 or 24 weeks. At 23 weeks, there is less than 10% chance of survival, and about a 100% chance that baby will suffer from life-long consequences of prematurity, including respiratory issues, mental deficiencies, physical disabilities, etc.
The best chance of preemies being without long-term health issues comes after the 28th-30th weeks.

At thirty two weeks or later the baby's odds of survival are fairly good. Anything before that the odd's drop. The youngest surviving preemie was born at 21 weeks 6 days.

24 completed weeks is when a baby is considered able to survive outside the womb but even then it's still a very small chance about 10-15%. And at best they will have sevear problmes with seeing hearing and brain development.

I believe my doctor told me that when u turn 6 months pregnant that ur baby will have a chance to survive but of course he/she will have to stay in the NICU until they reach a certain weight or they are able to breath on its own and eat good. It really all depends on the baby.

There are a lot of factors that can determine this. A lot depends on the weight of the child, development of the lungs, etc., but I have friends that have children who were as less than 3 lbs.
