Easiest way and cheapest if like me you have a 100 or so VHS tapes, is to buy a VCR/DVD player that has a DVD burner. By that I mean you can play VHS tapes in it and dub them onto DVDs. I have a Sony, works great. Just insert a blank DVD, the tape you are copying, and press dub.

Yes, the easiest way is to do the following...
1.purchase an external dvd burner.
2.connect a vcr to the external burner using rca cables.
3.press play on the vcr and record on the burner.

I just read a decent article yesterday about the same question (http://computershopper.com/howto/200704_convert_vhs_to_dvd). I'm not the most computer-savvy guy and it seemed fairly inexpensive and simple for anyone to follow.

You will need to plug a VCR into a capture card in your computer.
