Plastic means pliable and changing shape on deformation. Elastic means regaining original shape on removal of the load, like for example a rubber band. Plastic deformation is not recovered when the load is removed. Plastics are those compounds which can be deformed or moulded into various shapes easily.

plastic is the ability to change, an adjective, plastics is a noun, it is amorphous polymers
