The CW ended Gilmore Girls in May of 2007 since there was a breakdown in negotiations.
There is a campaign to try and get Gilmore Girls back in some form, whether it be a Season 8 full/shortened, a mini-series or a movie to wrap up all the storylines they left unfinished in the last episode.

Sad to say, but they ended the show. They were talking about another season, but both main actresses, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel said 'No' to continuing it. The last episode was the farewell party for Rory as the graduated from Yale, and accepted a journalism job following Barak Obama as he did his tour as a presidential candidate. Rory turned down a marriage proposal from Logan. Of course, her grandmother thought she was crazy!!!!
Lauralei and Luke were back together, but nothing was said or implied which had anything to do with marriage.

They are no longer making them.. the spring of 2007 was their last season. I know it's sad...
