This poor girl came to our class for about a month and none of us knew her very well, then one day the teacher took her to the front of the class and said she was leaving us again. One (boy) in the back was the only person who said anything, and he said, "Goodbye, good riddance..." Was he being horrible, or a bully, and what would you do if you were the teacher?

It sounds like his attempt at being the class clown. As the teacher, I wouldn't have drawn any more attention to the remark and told her how much she was going to be missed, and wished her well. You don't give the age, but it sounds like middle school behavior.

That is horrible. He might be just trying to get attention. But it's not right for him to say that... I would try and tell him to apologize to her right away and probably have some other consequences. What's that point of saying those words when they will hurt someone else? Now that he's said that, what happens? the only thing that does happen is the girl gets hurt. Is that what he wants?

He was just being horrible. I've heard kids say that to other kids alot and they aren't bullies they just think their being funny. Dont worry to much about the bully thing but i hope something told him it was/is wrong to say something mean like that.
